You know, Joseph McCarthy warned that branches of the U.S. government were infiltrated by the COMINTERN. He was called a traitor by Eisenhower and the media, and then he died a sudden and suspicious death not a decade later.

There were communists in Roosevelt’s administration and some continued under Truman. However, it was McCarthy who accused Eisenhower. After the Army-McCarthy hearings, anti-communism was replaced in the culture with anti-anti-communism. The candidacy of McGovern in 1972 was used by the left to get control of the Democrat Party.
