Fresh from accusing President Trump of anti-Semitism for criticising the anti-Semitism of Rep. Omar, Rep. Tlaib and their Democrat colleagues, the New York Times now has to explain the anti-Semitism of one of its own editors.
A New York Times political editor has a years-long history of antisemitic and racist comments on his Twitter page, a Breitbart News investigation has found.
“I was going to say ‘Crappy Jew Year,’ but one of my resolutions is to be less anti-Semitic,” Wright-Piersanti tweeted on Jan. 1, 2010, at 9:35 a.m. “So…. HAPPY Jew Year. You Jews.”
Another one from the evening of Dec. 15, 2009, includes a photograph of a vehicle with what looks like a Menorah–culturally and religiously associated with the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah–on the roof. Wright-Piersanti commented: “Who called the Jew-police?”
If Tom Wright-Piersanti had made comments like that about black people, he would be gone. No excuses or apologies.
But this will be fine. Just ask Sarah Jeong.
Tom Wright-Piersanti has locked his Twitter account, deleted the tweets and apologized for the “offensive” comments.
“We are aware of these tweets, which are a clear violation of our standards. We are reviewing next steps,” The New York Times said in a statement.
Step 1. Issue a vague statement that implies action is being taken.
Step 2. Claim the whole thing is a distraction from the much more serious issue of President Trump’s racism
Step 3. Give Tom a raise.
