Democrat governors, including Cuomo, Newsom, Whitmer, Wolf, and Murphy, killed tens of thousands of nursing home residents by forcing nursing homes to accept coronavirus patients. Even ProPublica, usually a clearinghouse for lefty investigations, had a good piece on it, yet the New York Times insists on playing cover-up and going after the nursing homes. While some nursing homes no doubt behaved abusively and giving homes a financial motive for taking in coronavirus patients was always going to backfire, this sentence shows just how dishonest the New York Times story is.
It is not always about the money. Several states, including New York, New Jersey and California, urged nursing homes to accept Covid-19 patients to help relieve pressure on hospitals. Some nursing home employees worried that would endanger their vulnerable residents.
Urged?
They didn’t urge, they mandated. As I documented extensively in my articles over the pandemic. Nursing homes were forced to accept patients. ProPublica can grapple with it, but the 1619 Tabloid insists on framing the whole thing dishonestly in one of those paragraphs that are meant to take in and then quickly dismiss an inconvenient truth.
