Remember when there was some sort of difference between the New York Times and the Huffington Post? A difference in standards, or at least the cosmetics of tone and style?
In Profane Rant, Melania Trump Takes Aim at Migrant Children and Critics – New York Times
The New York Times is lying. It knows it’s lying. It all but admits that it’s lying in the story. This headline is false and exists entirely as clickbait.
The basis for this are recordings made by a former friend of Melania who only has a book deal because we live in an era of bottomless publishing sleaze when it comes to the Trump family.
The recording is not a “profane rant”, it includes two frustrated uses of the F word. Your average Times reporter uses at least as many when complaining about their day.
That’s all Melania is doing.
There’s nothing newsworthy about this recording, in which a First Lady is being wiretapped. There is no legal reason or journalistic basis for this. It’s more of the media’s non-stop Watergate.
It is not aimed at “migrant children”, but notes the double standard in which she’s being blamed for an immigration policy that was also routine under the Obama administration, and that she tried to help reunite children.
This is a new low, one of an endless series, for what used to be the paper of record, which takes the same tape everyone in the media has, and then breaks up the brief conversation, while trying to surround it with irrelevancies, like the shirt she wore on a trip, to make her seem hateful.
It’s a garbage article from a formerly respected paper and shows how thoroughly standards have imploded at the New York Times.
