If you believe that Columbus is offensive, then you believe that the discovery of America was a bad thing. And vice versa.
It’s not really possible to believe one without the other.
Hostility to Columbus is hostility to America. And to its existence.
And if you believe that America is a bad thing, then Soviet nukes, open borders, Jihadis and anything that might destroy America is a good thing.
There’s leftist politics in a nutshell.
So the war on Columbus is a war on America.
The president of the University of Notre Dame sent an email to all students Sunday night, informing them of the school’s decision to cover up an on-campus mural of Christopher Columbus.
“In recent years, however, many have come to see the murals as at best blind to the consequences of Columbus’ voyage for the indigenous peoples who inhabited this ‘new’ world and at worst demeaning toward them,” Jenkins wrote.
Jenkins added that the arrival of Columbus to the “new world” was a “catastrophe” for native Americans. He added, “whatever else Columbus’ arrival brought, for these peoples it led to exploitation, expropriation of land, repression of vibrant cultures, enslavement, and new diseases causing epidemics that killed millions.”
As opposed to the Iroquois Federation doing the exploitation, expropriation and repression of vibrant cultures?
But that can’t be discussed as a fundamental tenet of the Left is that everything America does is evil and the world would have better if it had never existed.
