Occasionally when you play “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime”, you have to politely explain that the crime is unique to the man and really doesn’t apply to anyone else. That’s what New York’s Gov. Hochul just did.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) addressed New York business owners in a new interview and told them there was “nothing to worry about” after former President Trump was hit with a $355 million fine and a ban on conducting business in New York for three years.
Hochul joined John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM, where she was asked if other New York businesspeople should be worried that if “they can do that to the former president, they can do that to anybody.”
“I think that this is really an extraordinary, unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about, because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior,” Hochul responded.
More accurately, they can do it to anyone, but they generally wouldn’t choose to do so.
John Catsimatidis has some reason to worry. He’s a billionaire who apart from owning Gristedes supermarkets (one of the few sizable supermarket chains outside the Safeway/Kroger empire, it’s such an iconic New York City institution that it’s the grocery bag that Charles Bronson is toting on the subway in Death Wish just before he opens fire), but he’s also an occasional Republican donor who flirted with the idea of running for mayor.
So perhaps ‘Cats’ would like to know that he won’t be hauled into court on the sort of charge that probably 1 in 10 major businessmen in NYC could be nailed on (if not more.)
And Gov. Hochul assured him that he’s not on the radar. As far as she knows. Of course if he were to run for governor, who knows. At that point he might be considered less different than Trump enough to be a target.
They can indeed do it to anyone. Show them the man and they’ll find the crime.

She has that look of a total idiot on her face
Mickorn says
Way to totally misrepresent the quote. “Law abiding” and “rule following” New Yorkers don’t need to worry about being prosecuted like Trump, who is neither law abiding nor rule following. Doesn’t seem that complicated. Way to go again, Daniel!
FDTS says
You obviously aren’t from New York. Law abiding and rule following? That has no set meaning here. It’s completely arbitrary. Trump did business for forty years in New York, and as long as he made the proper donations to both parties there was no problem with his business practices. It wasn’t until 2016 when he took a side that he came under scrutiny. By the way, what he was accused of is routine in New York. That’s why none of his so called victims had any problem with what he did.
Jeff Bargholz says
What did he “do?” He took out loans, repaid them and the banks made over one hundred million dollars.

What is the mental health status of a troll on a site such as this? What does that say about the opinions such a troll espouses? Is it paid? If so by whom?
Most comment platforms have report mute block options. So this one is a sitting duck for those with “issues.”
Jeff Bargholz says
The Dickshorn troll is obviously paid because it doesn’t believe any of the standard issue Dirtbagocrat fake news media lies it types.
chinch says
Oh look, a leftist who thinks we are (and should be) a nation of laws. How quaint.
Jeff Bargholz says
If the face fits……
Ho-chul is the same dumb, lying bitch who just gave a press conference where she pretended to be concerned about the crime wave she’s sponsored along with Da Mayor of NYC, Boogie Adams.
Ugly Sid says
Bills of Attainder are tools, like a chisel in the hand of a sculptor.
A good sculptor requires material.
Who wouldn’t accept the “honor” of being that fresh material?
New York is offering the prospect of that honor.
NAVY ET1 says
It’s obvious to everyone, including Governor Hochul, what’s going on. Otherwise, there’s no need for a comment to NY business owners…and those owners have good reason to be concerned. With New York and California being the two states most abandoned by businesses, those that remain are gambling for high stakes, believing they can beat the ‘house’.
No one ever beats the house for long.
A sheriff’s deputy was killed in a nearby county two weeks ago (1st time since the 50’s) and the usual suspect was at large for a time. The CEO of Smith & Wesson, a recent business addition to the local community after leaving blue Massachusetts and it’s leftist leadership behind, continued to build amity and show his appreciation for red state leadership and it’s citizens by offering a $40,000 reward for his capture…and folks appreciated it.
The only way beat the house is not to play.
David Mu says
With people like these – you know you will be unique. Just take a number, and wait your turn.
Stephen Hughes says
Openly proclaiming they were only targeting former President Trump ….
Jeff Bargholz says
Yeah, Ho-chull is a dumbass.
Thomas E. Warwick says
It has been estimated that approximately two trillion dollars in investment capital has already flown from NY and CA to the sunbelt simply due to the anti-business climate in New York City. And that was before the political train robbers in NY’s justice system even mounted their horses. Every businessman in the city now knows that despite what the state’s Thief-In-Chief says, everyone is fair game. The wolves in Manhattan and Albany already know that rich pickings are available out there in the sheep pen. That noise you hear in the background are the U-Haul trucks being loaded.
FDTS says
““I think that this is really an extraordinary, unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about, because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior,” Hochul responded.”
That should be taken as a threat, not an assurance. In New York the law only applies to those the buck the entrenched establishment. And in New York that’s the irredeemably corrupt democrats that have complete control of the dying empire state. Businesses that make the proper donations and show the required support to the democrats can break all the rules and laws they want. And actual law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers will be bankrupt very soon.
Chaya says
Exactly. She should be impeached and tried for her crime. But theres no justice system to do so.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Laws directed at a single individual are supposed to be illegal.
CowboyUp says
I believe that’s called a bill of attainder.
Jeff Bargholz says
People have been executed over those. We all know the Dirtbagocrats would love to murder Trump, despicable scum that they are.
Firerup49 says
But no one complained the banks were happy, investors, purchasers were happy, they made money .everyone, except, James and the judge.
Jeff Bargholz says
The banks made $100,000,000. A financial expert from one of the banks testified to that effect at Trump’s kangaroo court trial.
World@70 says
This treatment and judgement against Trump will become another tool in the Democratic tool box.
BTW: Without a clear victim, who gets the money?
Chaya says
Obama and muslim brotherhood?
RMT says
State of New York? You know they have financial problems of their own making.
World@70 says
I thought maybe NYC. They need money to pay for those hotel rooms for illegals. This could become a new way for them to refill the city coffers. Businessmen BEWARE!
Jeff Bargholz says
The DNC? Or some scumbags in New York.
RAM says
This special treatment of one person they hate takes us really close to Bill of Attainder territory, at least in spirit.

They twist law for their own purposes by legislative and bureaucratic action, for maximum negative effect on one individual. But there’s always a handy excuse not to go after their own,
Democrats at all levels who play at defending democracy know full well how their own actions undermine.it. John Roberts knows, too, but he appears to be in on the fix more often than not.
TruthLaser says
The Constitution bans ex post facto laws and bills of attainder. That is before the Bill of Rights listed other protections of the individual and the separate states from the federal government. The forbidden laws are always “unique” in application to their selected victims. This case against Donald Trump has aspects of these laws without new legislation by applying existing laws in unique ways never intended or done before.
STJOHNOFGRAFTON says
Since when does the term ‘unique’ mean just?
Mike says
Gretchen Whitmer and Kathy Hochul both have a kind of wild-eyed thing going.
Jeff Bargholz says
Yes, they look insane and probably are.
danknight says
“law-abiding and rule-following” …

keep your Protection Payments current …
… and don’t step out of line …
RMT says
Sure it’s only Trump….and other conservatives. For if you pay your protection money to the Democrats, you will be OK.
That’s a nice business you have there, it would be a shame if something would happen to it.
CowboyUp says
Anything dems get away with once, they do again and again until stopped. Hochul is blatantly lying, and the leftist msm wouldn’t dare ask her the obvious follow up questions on it.
And now james is saying she’s going to confiscate Trump’s properties if he doesn’t pay immediately, before it can be appealed.
Jeff Bargholz says
Welcome to post America. James should be arrested at 3:00 am by a SWAT team and dragged out in her underwear with the media present. She belongs in a gulag, not the January 6th tourists. Not that I’m writing anything the majority of Americans don’t already want to see.
JoeyP says
Sounds like JOSEF STALIN from the (former) U.S.S.R. to me . . . VERY Communist.
