Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) has told Alaska voters that Obama is not relevant in the midterm elections.
“I did [vote for him], but that’s irrelevant,” Begich told the Washington Examiner’s Rebecca Berg. “The president’s not relevant. He’s gone in two years.”
Obviously Begich will still jump when Obama says.
The pathetic part is that Obama has become so unpopular that his own Senators are trying to defend themselves by calling him irrelevant. While the White House has to argue that it’s still relevant.
White House Spokesman Josh Earnest responded by arguing that the Emperor of Phone and Pen is still relevant.
“Senator Begich is certainly entitled to his opinion, but I think that the vast majority of Americans would agree whoever is the sitting president of the United States happens to be is relevant in a lot of important ways.”
So Begich is entitled to his opinion that Obama is irrelevant, but his spokesman would like to point out that he’s still relevant. Lame ducks don’t get any lamer than this.
