Back in the day, I predicted that…
1. The media’s manufactured Obama cult of personality would disappear as if it had never existed
2. That compared to the new generation of radicals, Obama would start looking like JFK
3. He’d be attacked for being insufficiently radical on pretty much everything
None of these are new developments. These days conservatives care a lot more about Obama than anyone leftward of the center does. Obama is still useful on the campaign trail, but he’s starting to resemble Bill Clinton in 2012. A decade from now, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him reduced to obscurity. He was just too lazy to set up a proper political apparatus and assumed that the cult of personality would just carry him forward.
But the media pulled the plug on that, and all he gets these days is a chance to wet his beak at Silicon Valley with Netflix and Spotify media deals, meanwhile, the disrespect is mounting.
Some Latinos in an Illinois community are pushing back against a local school board’s consideration to rename a school after former President Obama due to his record on deportation, according to ABC Chicago.
The Waukegan Board of Education is deliberating what to rename the city’s Thomas Jefferson Middle School. The push to change the school’s name stems from the fact the third president was a slave owner. The board is expected to officially decide whether to rename the school in the coming weeks.
A leading contender for a new name is Barack and Michelle Obama Middle School. But on Tuesday as the board held a meeting and heard comments from the public, many Latinos were not pleased with the suggestion and protested outside the meeting.
“From the time Barack Obama became President until 2017 when he left, he today is still the highest ranking president with deportations in our nation,” Julie Contreras, an activist who helps run shelters for undocumented children at the U.S.-Mexico border and Waukegan resident, said, according to ABC Chicago.
“If you’re removing the name of Thomas Jefferson – one oppressor – the name of Obama is another oppressor and our families do not want to see that name,” Contreras said.
Obama still has a presence in the black community and schools renamed after him tend to be in black areas. Part of this is the usual identity politics infighting that the movement breeds. Obama pushed amnesty harder than anyone: right down to the massively illegal DACA move. But if you hate America, which lefties do, any appearance of normal functioning, like deporting some illegal aliens or killing some terrorists, is still a crime.
And the buck stops with the community organizer in the Oval Office.
If you’re also out to topple the past and move to Year Zero, then Obama becomes a part of that. The revolution devours its own children and certainly its enablers.
Especially if they’ve held ultimate power.
Everyone and everything must be canceled. Sooner or later.
History is being reset at a rapid pace. We exist in a world in which there’s barely any past and the present vanishes at a rapid rate. A year in the past starts to feel like a decade in the past, and a decade in the past starts to look like a century ago.
Obama is already disappearing into the recesses of an obscure history. That’s good news for everyone who couldn’t stand eight years of that smirk and the cult of personality. But the bad news is that the road ahead will be littered with even worse characters who wouldn’t have existed without him.
If you think Obama was bad, imagine President AOC.
