In 2014, Hamas kidnapped and killed three teens, including Naftali Frenkel, an American 16-year-old. “I’ve murdered three Jews,” the killer boasted.
As Israel battled Hamas, Obama called for a ceasefire. “I have no sympathy for Hamas. I have great sympathy for ordinary people who are struggling within Gaza,” he argued, while describing the terrorists as having behaved “extraordinarily irresponsibly”.
“The US goal right now would be to make sure that the ceasefire holds, that Gaza can begin the process of rebuilding,” Obama said and urged that there needs to be “some prospects for an opening of Gaza so that they do not feel walled off.”
After the fighting died down, the Palestinian Authority asked for $4 billion to rebuild Gaza, the international community pledged $5.4 billion with $212 million of it coming from America.
“The people of Gaza do need our help, desperately,” Secretary of State John Kerry claimed.
The ceasefire which allowed Hamas to rearm and rebuild was one in a series that led directly to the horrors in the Israeli communities near Gaza attacked by the murderous Islamic group.
Obama’s pivot on Hamas was part of his pivot on the Muslim Brotherhood. When he delivered his ‘New Beginning’ speech in Cairo in 2009 , he specifically requested that the Muslim Brotherhood attend as he not only called for a ‘Palestinian’ terrorist state inside Israel and negotiations with Iran, but also legitimized Hamas which is an arm of the Brotherhood.
“Hamas does have support among some Palestinians, but they also have to recognize they have responsibilities. To play a role in fulfilling Palestinian aspirations, to unify the Palestinian people, Hamas must put an end to violence, recognize past agreements, recognize Israel’s right to exist,” he told an audience which included members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Hamas responded warmly to the outreach. Hamas boss Khaled Mashaal praised “Obama’s new language towards Hamas” and described it as “the first step in the right direction.”
Obama had made a point of reaching out to Hamas and to both of its key backers: the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran. On taking office, he had received letters from both Hamas, which “congratulated Mr. Obama on his presidency and reminded him that he should live up to his promise to bring real change to the region”, and from key national security figures, Brent Scowcroft, who provided advice to him, Chuck Hagel, his future defense secretary,
Zbigniew Brzezinski, Carter’s national security adviser, Paul Volcker, the head of Obama’s economic recovery board, along with other notables, urging him to talk to Hamas.
“I see no reason not to talk to Hamas,” Scowcroft, a longtime advocate of Iran appeasement, had argued. The national security figure was especially influential with Obama gushing, “I love that guy.” And what Obama offered was much better than words..
Earlier in 2009, the Obama administration promised to provide $900 million in aid to help “rebuild” Gaza after fighting that began when Hamas was caught digging a tunnel to kidnap Israelis. The donation was announced in Egypt by Hillary Clinton who promised that the money would not end up in the “wrong hands”, but made no mention of Hamas.
Despite that promise, Obama administration officials told Congress that the money needed to be allocated even if Hamas were to become part of a ‘unity’ government with the PLO. The unity government never happened. Instead, Hamas drew Israel into a series of clashes that ended with ceasefires and reconstructions funded by American aid that left the terrorists stronger.
In March 2014, Rob Malley, who had been dumped by the Obama campaign for his contacts with Hamas, was brought back in and made a senior National Security Council director and then the White House Coordinator for the Middle East. When Obama pressured Israel to stand down and accept a ceasefire after the kidnapping and murder of three Jewish teens, Malley was at the wheel. After Hamas survived, Malley moved on to become Obama’s lead negotiator on the Iran deal. He became Biden’s special envoy to Iran until he was sidelined when the FBI began investigating him for mishandling classified information.
Malley had described Hamas as a misunderstood organization victimized by “misinformation”.
When Obama took office, Iran was torn by internal strife and Hamas was struggling to hang on to Gaza. By the time he left office, Iran had benefited from sanctions relief and used that money to tighten its grip on Syria, Iraq and Yemen (not to mention Lebanon.) Obama’s Arab Spring delivered significant amounts of weapons and rockets to Gaza from Libya, By 2019, Hamas was receiving $30 million a month from Iran. More recently it benefited from the trade in weapons abandoned in Afghanistan. All the negotiations made Iran and Hamas much more powerful.
And this was not an accident.
The Hamas atrocities in the last day of the High Holy Days were a direct result of Obama’s foreign policy which empowered Islamists and undermined American allies. Hamas was the beneficiary of not only regular rebuilding programs after every clash with Israel, but of the newfound wealth and power of Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Obama replaced Bush’s flawed agenda of democratizing enemy nations with something much worse, Islamizing allied nations. The Arab Spring and the Iran Deal had disastrous consequences for every allied country in the region. The effects on Israel were more subtle. It handled the Syrian Civil War on its border without being significantly affected by it and survived Egypt’s brief experiment with Muslim Brotherhood rule. Iran’s rise posed a grave threat, but also spurred some Arab Muslim Sunni enemy nations to form the Abraham Accords alliance.
And yet Obama’s foreign policy had a corrosive effect on Israel that few were aware of. Hamas rocket attacks increased in volume and range. Regular conflicts were settled with ceasefires. Israeli leaders came to rely on a defensive strategy, building up the Iron Dome program, while remaining confident that high tech tools, surveillance cameras, drones and sensors, would enable it to manage any crisis coming out of Gaza. That has proven to be disastrously wrong.
The mindset that made Israel so vulnerable came from the modus vivendi imposed by the Obama administration. Rather than trying to defeat or at least cripple Hamas, Obama had pressured Israel, as he had Egypt and the PLO, to make Hamas a partner. Israeli leaders were encouraged to find ways to incentivize good behavior by Hamas. Such programs led the previous leftist Israeli government to offer 20,000 work permits for Gazans to enter Israel.
Those Gazans scouted Israeli communities and took part in the brutal Hamas attacks.
Obama had corrupted both America and Israel into adopting the worldview that Islamic terrorism could not be defeated, only managed by making deals with even the worst possible terrorists. Hamas was treated as a rational actor which could be co-existed with as long as it had something tangible to gain from avoiding conflict. This same philosophy underlay the massive aid programs to rebuild Gaza after every war which provided Hamas with weapons and money.
It was and still is the philosophy behind the Iran Deal and in every attempt to reach an accommodation with Islamic terrorists. Foreign policy appeasers claimed to be realists and argued at every turn that the jihadists were reasonable and could be dealt with.
“We may disagree with them, but they have their own rationality, that’s the one thing to understand. These are not—none of them are crazies,” Rob Malley spoke of Hamas. “If you want to take Hamas at its word, its long-term objective is the destruction of Israel. But that’s not a practical or realistic goal, even for them,” Brent Scowcroft said dismissively.
The negotiations and agreements with Hamas and Iran, not to mention the Taliban, advocated by the realists fell apart badly. A political and military leadership, and diplomatic corps which had absorbed the nonsensical propositions of the realists was unable to see it coming. Its members refused to evacuate the embassy from Kabul until the very last minute because they were convinced that the Taliban were going to join a unity government. They are still trying to cut an interim nuclear deal with Iran. And they didn’t see a Hamas attack coming.
All the calculations of co-existence were wrong. The ideas that the Obama administration had passed off as reasonable, sensible and credible were actually delusions unmoored from reality.
“Diplomacy is the art of saying ‘Nice doggie’ until you can find a rock,” Will Rogers had quipped.
That is still how our enemies practice diplomacy, but we keep saying ‘nice doggie’ without ever looking for a rock or realizing that we even need one. Saying ‘nice doggie’ has become a magical incantation that continues to be invoked no matter how often it fails.
Defeating Hamas and neutralizing Iran are more than military problems, they require the unlearning of the foolishly dangerous ideas injected into the establishment under Obama.
Barack Obama opened the road to Gaza with his outreach to the Muslim Brotherhood and the Iran Deal. Closing the door on Hamas will require also closing the door on Obama’s legacy.
One thing that should never have happened was allowing metal pipe into Gaza. Even the pipes for drinking water were dug up and turned into missiles. Plastic pipe could have been used instead.
The terrorists have fouled the drinking water in Gaza in numerous ways, even including dumping their sewage into the drinking water supply. What can be done dealing with people with a mentality like that? It is inconceivable to a western mind that anyone could think like that.

As one that might be described as naive & uninformed about this area of the world (including its history) …. I feel I do know more about B. Hussein. I say that based on my ability to “connect the dots”.

Hamas even said last week that they don’t care what happens to the people of Gaza. Their stated goal in their on-line mission statement is to “kill Jews”, and everything else is way down the list of importance. How long will US administrations keep pouring money in thinking it’s an incentive for peace while it’s really just re-armament? They (the US officials) can not be so stupid as to think if we just give them a few more bucks they’ll quit being hateful murderers. However, after reading Lee Smith’s article referenced below, only one sentence in your article may need to be reconsidered, and the parenthesis around “intentionally” I used should be removed. The game the Biden regime is playing about the Israel-Hamas war is SO obvious. Only in an era where critical thinking has almost become extinct could anything like this be happening.
On the surface, the Bidenistas get to have it both ways. “We support and stand by Israel,” they say to the news media, none of whom will ask the Bidenistas why they’re still advancing billions of aid to Iran (the exact same as advancing billions to Hamas).
That way, they appease their anti-Jewish wing of the party while still leading inattentive Jewish Democrats into thinking that they’re as pro-Israel as America has always been. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth, and it’s easily provable by the Bidenistas’ own actions. They count on people not paying attention; and it seems to work! That fact is almost as horrible as the atrocities taking place against the Jews in Israel at this moment. Because without this inattentiveness, Israel would perhaps already have won the war.
If anyone other than Netanyahu were in charge, I would consider Israel relegated to the ash heap of history. However, Netanyahu has shown the moral courage in the past to stand on principle. The only principle the Americans offer — under our viciously anti-Israel, anti-freedom occupation government — is certain defeat, while pretending it’s not a defeat at all.
In its own way, this is even more sickening than the Nazi Germany era. At least the Nazis ultimately lost. And at least America was on the side of the good guys, not the bad guys.
Hamas and Iran face only one opponent: Israel itself.
If Israel prevails, it will be 100 percent Israel’s doing. And it will be in spite of America, not because of it.

In addition , to risk sounding really far –out it had been reported that Obama’s national security advisor , James Jones, had declared the President Obama in the year 2009 had religious experience in the White House Office in the Obama believed that God appeared to him in a vision and told him the he should work for the dividing of the land of Israel into “two states.” [1] if this report of a supernatural experience of Obama actually occurred then the Bible contains the answer to this story . For the Bible teaches that Satan is so very deceitful that he can “appear as an angle of Light” Second Corinthians 11:14 .
Furthermore, to divide is showing that Obama ,who is for sure not the Anti-Christ is Nevertheless influenced by the spirit of the coming Anti-Christ who is predicted, in the Bible ,to come in the future. So to divide the land that composes Israel according to the Bible is wrong . So wrong ,in fact , when the real arch – villain who is will be the Anti Christs comes to power in the Middle East he “shall divide the land” Daniel 11:39. As for Obama is the reported religious vision he had in which supernatural being told him to “divide the land ” that this instruction is in contradiction to the Bible in Daniel 11 39. It’s thus in the light of Isaiah 8:20. An instruction in error, folly and darkness. Shame on Obama for wanting to “divide the land” and likewise being taken in by a deceptive religious experience.

Were we so naive as to actually believe that none of this Gaza “humanitarian” aid would go to Hamas? Even assuming good intentions on the part of the Obama administration, this was a policy disaster.
Aid directly to the UN Palestinian refugee project needs to be banned. Any aid to Gaza needs to be distributed by completely neutral organizations such as non-partisan and church organizations who must supervise everything. It’s much more expensive that way, but if they read the school books with Google translate or an Israeli translator, they can make sure no extreme textbooks are allowed. They can bring food to individual families, lock up medicines and fuel etc with armed escorts. If Hamas will not accept aid under these conditions, then they won’t get any aid into Gaza, and their families will starve like everyone else. However, international pressure would likely make them accept these guarded aid convoys going house to house and clinic to clinic and school to school with aid, ousting extremist teachers.
I appreciate your sentiments here Barbara, I really mean that…but unfortunately you start from a faulty premise, as any caring individual might. You have separated into two camps; “innocent” Palestinians on one side and the ruthless Hamas leadership on the other. This is a misnomer. Hamas is the elected governing body of Gaza by the Palestinian people since 2006. They are synonymous. One can’t function without the other.
In a perfect world, your idea makes sense…but as one who’s spent time in Israel while in uniform, going past “The Green Line” into the Golan and standing on the borders of Syria and Lebanon, visiting Kibbutz Sa’ad in southern Israel on the boarder of the Gaza Strip, I can tell you that the hate is eternal and begins from the time a child is old enough to pick up a rock to throw. I wish it wasn’t so but it is.
I have always thought that Barack Obama was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Just look at him now – crouched in his bachelor pad with Valarie Jarrett, a block from the largest mosque in D.C. and just a few more blocks from the White House. We have been told since 9/11 that we are not at war with Islam. That is a lie. The West has been at war with Islam for 1400 years. We’re told that the war is against terrorism and that it’s against Islamic Extremists. Those are lies too. The former is like saying we’re at war against blitzkrieg or against strategic bombing. The later is wrong became there’s no such thing as Islamic Extremism. There is only Islam. Our problem is accepting that we can deal with these folks as rational actors. They are not. Hatred fuels the Muslim world’s decision making when it comes to Jews, Christians, and pretty much everyone else. Hatred is utterly irrational.
I have long said that it takes a religious people to fight a religious war. However anyone can die in one, even an atheist.
The West is no longer religious and so has no comprehension of religious belief let alone religious fanaticism. Thus, there is no understanding of the motivations of people who would strap explosives on themselves or their children and go to a pizza parlor and blow themselves up in order to kill people who were just out for dinner. That makes no sense to a person with no religious belief. How can we understand people who would attack a music festival for peace and kill 260 people who were there to promote peace with the very people who had come to kill them? Hatred and religious fanaticism, pure and simple. They hate the music. They hate the women dancing in skimpy outfits. They hate the idea of peace with them. They want to violate them, humiliate them, murder them because the partygoers believed they were free to do what they were doing when Allah said they were not. This is the belief of these people. It’s not a thought process. There’s nothing rational to it.
Biden backed and and still basks and supports the awful scheme to divide the State of Israel into two. Meaning the so called “two state solution” is not really a valid idea and not a genuine solution. It will definitely not stop this awful Israeli –Muslim land conflict.
For a “two state solution” is out of the question. .This is because a “two state solution” not really a “solution” but an Islamic ploy of deception , a smokescreen and hoax and a fraud.
For example those Hamas rocket attacks in to Israel from Gaza reveals that even the idea of some people of dividing Jerusalem as well as other parts of the State of Israel between the Jewish people of the Muslim/ Arabs is nothing but folly. To engage the madness of such “talks” is a hoax and a farce .This is because in the so called “negotiations” between the heads of the Jewish nation of Israel and the leaders of the “Palestinians” the Muslim /Arabs the “Palestinian” leaders will speak the truth only when in happens to fit their agenda. The rest of the time the will be speaking half-truths and outright lies. For their goal is to obtain all of the land of the State of Israel. Even in it takes much time and it means getting the land piece by piece. Therefore, those “peace talks” are a hoax.
For the “Palestinian” leaders are employing what is the Islamic doctrine of Taqiyya . Which is the Islamic dogma that lying and deception are good things to do as long as it’s done for the cause of the advancement of Islam. The insidious scheme is part of the stealth jihad .Otherwise known as “Islamic Gradualism.” This sly and something subtle strategy of disingenuous speech, lying deception of achieving the goal of all the land of Israel a war ploy that will be a disaster if the heads of the State of Israel are foolish enough to agree to divide the land of Israel with Muslim /Arabs ,the “Palestinians.” For if such a “peace dialogue” results in a divided land, the outcome will literally be murder. For “Palestinian” leader will allow the jihadists use that land as a base to launch murderous rocket attacks in to Israel. As for example, Hamas of Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

At the opening of the January Republican National Committee meeting in Charleston South Carolina Wednesday, the RNC Resolutions Committee was forced to vote on a RNC Resolution known as the Agema Resolution, supporting the proper Impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama for his many crimes of treason, tyranny and treachery against the United States and the people.
The nine member Resolutions Committee chaired by Carolyn McLarty of Oklahoma, voted unanimously to kill the Agema Resolution in committee, preventing the full body of the RNC from ever having a vote or voice on the measure in the full meeting scheduled for Friday January 15.

Not one member of the RNC Resolutions Committee supported the Agema Resolution to impeach what is admittedly the most impeachable administration in U.S. history.
