In a way this epitomizes the culture of leftist illiberalism even more than the Harper’s letter and the responses to it. After all, Penn State Liberal Arts has ‘liberal’ right in its name. And in the middle of tweets promoting the institution to students, largely through the usual politically correct garbage, it added conservatives to the groups it thought needed assurances about its diversity.
“Dear Students: You Belong Here” followed by various affirmations of black, Muslim, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ students. It also had a message for conservatives: “Dear conservative students, your viewpoints are important.”
You don’t have to guess too hard to imagine what happened in response to the inclusion of intellectual diversity.
Intellectual diversity is the one thing that the Left hates worse than George Washington, Israel, or the criminal justice system.
On June 12, Penn State’s College of the Liberal Arts posted a tweet in an attempt to express its “inclusive and supportive environment,” according to William Hessert, the college’s director of strategic communications.
So much for inclusivity. The tweet has since been deleted.
Student Cassandra Nuñez said the experiences of conservative students and students of color cannot not be presented as equal in any way.
“Conservatives in the United States do not live in a system that was built from the blood and trauma of their ancestors — a system that continues to put down people who look like [their ancestors] every day,” Nuñez said via email.
Give it a hundred years, I guess.
Murray said the tweet demonstrated a lack of understanding from Penn State’s administration and brought a sense of shame and humiliation to Penn State’s communities of color.
“The #WeAre chant used to be one that gave me pride and accomplishment when I said it, now it only brings shame and disdain,” Murray said. “I will no longer be saying it.”
There will be no inclusivity allowed.
Conservative students are not welcome.
