Just because something is plausible, doesn’t mean it’s true. (Consider the books of Edward Klein.) But it’s hard not to look at the fly-on-the-wall description in the Wall Street Journal story that has D.C. Dems mad and view it as exactly the way that things are in the White House.
With Ukraine running out of munitions, the White House called together top lawmakers to discuss what it would take to get congressional funding, along with the scope of border-security changes demanded by Republicans. The president moved so slowly around the Cabinet Room to greet the nearly two dozen congressional leaders that it took about 10 minutes for the meeting to begin, some people who attended recalled.
Biden started the meeting reading from notes to make broad points about the need to give money to Ukraine, which struck several participants as odd given that the lawmakers present already generally agreed that more funds were needed. Some attendees had trouble hearing him.
Biden deferred so frequently to other lawmakers that much of the conversation didn’t include him, some people who attended the meeting recalled. When questions came directly to him, he would turn to staffers, they said.
“You couldn’t be there and not feel uncomfortable,” said one person who attended. “I’ll just say that.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, a New York Democrat who attended, said Biden was “incredibly strong, forceful and decisive.” The White House provided similar statements from two top officials who attended: Shalanda Young, director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Deputy National Security Adviser Jon Finer. Bates, the White House spokesman, said no one in the room said anything at the time about having trouble hearing Biden.
Whom do you believe? Turn back to the opening of the Time Magazine interview transcript.
Biden: Yes, we’re planning even more. We are, we are the world power. And what I inherited, as a consequence of the mistake that we made in Afghanistan is a—was not a loss in Afghanistan, excuse my cold. But I think that, look, I believe, I have a fundamentally different view than Mr. Trump has on a range of things. Number one: I really believe that we have a values-based as well as practical-based alliances around the world. And he, Trump, wanted to just abandon them. He says he’s practical, one-on-one things he’s doing.
This is borderline gibberish.
Combine that with the Hur report and insisting that Biden is “incredibly strong, forceful and decisive” is just delusional. We’ve seen him speak, we have transcripts of him struggling to make sense and we have the Hur report. Where are the examples of Biden being on top of things? They’re a little hard to come by.
What the above quoted scene in the WSJ story really captures though is Biden as the President-in-Absentia. Unable to follow discussions or really contribute to them, he struggles with the most basic demands of a very demanding job, and America’s power and prestige are slipping away as a result.
I’m not one of those people who insist he’s a helpless dementia patient who doesn’t know where he is. But neither is he on top of things, capable of grasping the details of his job, or making the case for his agenda. In no small part because his agenda is staying in power and trying to conceal the worst-kept secret ever.
Who’s running the country?
Biden deferred so frequently to other lawmakers that much of the conversation didn’t include him, some people who attended the meeting recalled. When questions came directly to him, he would turn to staffers, they said.
This guy is running it in the same sense that European monarchs who functioned marginally ran things. Which is to say that the aides and advisers run things and they occasionally turn to Biden to sign off on something, listen to the same story or joke they heard 5,000 times, and then do what they want to do anyway.

Oh, another thing that struck me. There are a lot of cases in history where the King or Ruler was insane or a moron or a little kid or whatever. Then there was generally (or always) someone else who was the real ruler.

It is called a regency. Sometimes, it is official, sometimes not.
Daniel Greenfield says
government by descent is a ridiculous system and there’s no particular reason to think the eldest surviving son is going to be capable of running a country
Floyd Looney says
In Korean history there was a point where the King had to kill his own deranged son and heir to prevent him from ever becoming King.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Yeah, that’s interesting. To speculate, maybe the custom evolved during primitive times when the eldest son was more likely than not to be suitable. Then as humanity devolved more absurd cases arose, like some of the French Kings.
There were other customs that became absurd as human society changed, like dividing the Kingdom amongst all male sons. I’ve also been reading about struggles to claim the right to kingdoms by descent, which people of the time took very seriously, hard as it is to believe now. Another example of how hard I find it to get into the mindset of people from an earlier era, and why I hate leftist historical revisionists so much 🙂
Jeff Bargholz says
Yes, like Charlemagne and other rulers. It didn’t work out for Samuel, though.
Jeff Bargholz says
Yes, King David was there youngest son, right?
Kynarion Hellenis says
Yes. God chose David as the man after God’s own heart. His predecessor, Saul, began very humble and retiring, but was corrupted by power. There was war between his house and David’s at the beginning.

‘there’s no particular reason to think the eldest surviving son is going to be capable of running a country’
Or an evil, undermining organization. But Soros seems to think so and I’m glad.
His son’s already proving to be an idiot.
Kynarion Hellenis says
Although monarchy by primogeniture is repugnant to Americans, I am beginning to think democracy is much worse. We are supposedly self-ruled and each of us has a vote no matter how stupid, no matter whether we have property interests or not, no matter now whether we are even citizens. Our vote is our power in lieu of warfare.
The taxpaying part of the nation used to be roughly half. With the many millions of third worlders now calling themselves American, the taxpayer burden is becoming intolerable as his wealth is being distributed to strangers with no skin in the game.
I never thought I would say this, but I actually think the 19th amendment was a mistake.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2230850/How-election-results-looked-universal-suffrage.html
Our constitution is not sufficient to govern this rootless propositional people. I will not go quietly into that good night, but neither do I desire bloodshed. We are living in times in which a strong man will be required and welcome, that would be perhaps better than being ruled by the evil administrative state we have now.
At least a king would have time to prepare his son for rule. He could also prepare the advisors that would be necessary to maintain the good of the nation. But that would require a good king (monarch) as opposed to an evil king (tyrant).
Interesting to me that both the 19th Amendment and the administrative state were brought about by men abdicating their duties.
The March Hare says
That’s the way I’ve been looking at him for quite some time now. The communist staffers are the ones that are running the show.
BTW, in the first paragraph you put: “that has D.C. Dems made”. I think you intended to say “has the DC Dems mad.”
i kind of stumbled over that for a few seconds.
Jeff Bargholz says
I’ve been telling you people that Alzheimer Joe is senile for three years now. And you all just noticed it? He started his fake election campaign by saying he was running for the Senate. WTF? He’s a senile retard who shits his pants.
Floyd Looney says
Half the time he thinks he’s still VP
Jeff Bargholz says
And he thinks Kameltoe Harris is President.

He did something really weird at Normandy when he was standing with Macron, about to meet some D-Day veterans, which you probably saw. First he makes like he is trying to sit down, but there is no chair. Then Jill quickly ushers him off the stage, leaving Macron alone to meet the veterans. Macron acts confused at first, then quickly walks over and meets the veterans by himself, cracking up with laughter at the absurdity of the situation.
World@70 says
Yeah, I saw that AA. Biden did shake one hand before Jill hustled him out while Macron even went thru the second row not to leave any Vet out.
Daniel Greenfield says
thanks, Biden must have written that one
internalexile says
So, Valerie Jarrett and Susan Rice are still running things? That is SO reassuring.
Chaya says
They ran Obama who is rather borderline intellectually despite all praise and Nobel prize. Obama just popped his head out on social media to support a big win for Hamas and a permanent threat to israel.
That, Obama knows how to do.

No one in the history of POTUS’s and installed by the coup d’etat that stole the 2020 election, needs to be impeached and prosecuted for treason against the citizens and Constitution of the Unite States than Joe Briben! Doesn’t matter his alibis and memory issues, we have all been victimized by the coup d’etat!!
Jeff Bargholz says
Yeah I’m tired of paying five bucks for a gallon of milk and $5 to $7 for a gallon of gas. I bought some hamburger buns the other day for Manwich sandwiches and they costed five bucks too. They were the cheapest ones in the store, too! And don’t get me started on the price of ice cream. Unlike Retardo Joe, I have to pay for mine and I can eat a whole serving without having nurse caregivers take the cone away from me as I forget what I’m doing and shit my pants.
Angel Jacob says
Marxists and Muhammdans are running the current admin. With no opposition.
Because nobody calls them who they really are, which is the first step to save America.
Trump calls them radical left and radical islamics. It all starts there.
Name the enemy, and then have a solid plan to get rid of them.

Biden is just not right for the job not that he is too old its just he is way too senile to run the nation and Harris isn’t any better

I wouldn’t doubt that Obama is pulling strings.

And someone’s puling Obamas Strings
Kit_Jefferson says
We could look high and we could look low for the Swamp Civil Servants who are actually ruining things but one thing we know with 100 percent certainty is that Old Joe hasn’t a single clue that they’re doing it and using him as the shield behind which they are doing it, And when it comes to writing legislation one need look no further than all the fat cat lobbyists (lawyers) who are primarily concerned in the interests of the companies who pay them. So, what we really have is not the rule of law but the rule of lawyers.
Floyd Looney says
He was a bad Senator, a bad Vice President, a bad President and evidently a bad father too.

Obama-Biden are the total 380 degrees opposites of Reagan and Trump.
Dr. Don Rhudy says
Who is running the country? Anyone who pays even a little attention must know that Barack Obama runs the country directly and through his acolytes who hold keep positions around Biden and tell him what to do. Now and then the old tyrannical psychopathic personality burst through the fog of Alzheimer’s Dementia and Biden shows us how sick he really is—sick of mind with Alzheimer’s and sick of self with narcissism, selfishness, greed, and evil intent. For the most part, however, Biden reads the script and plays the game with Jill constantly at his side to try to keep him from embarrassing himself too much and embarrassing the nation. As time runs out and November gets closer and closer he will be taken out of the race and someone substituted for him, the Neo-Nazi Democrats hoping to spring a fresh face on voters. It will be Michelle Obama, Gavin Newsom, or Hakim Jeffries. Neo-Nazi thinking is spring it on folks late while Trump has wasted his time campaigning against Biden and wow the voters, old and illegal alien new.
