Not exactly good news for the Democrat rush to ban women.
Overall, 53% of registered voters support banning transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports, versus a third who oppose such a ban.
The way the poll question is phrased is interesting.
“As you may know, Mississippi is moving towards banning transgender athletes from participating on women’s sports teams at the state’s high schools and universities.”
The wording is ambiguous. It’s not quite slanted, but respondents would be forgiven for not quite understanding the implications of it and coming out against it. And yet the numbers are decisive, but also interesting.
Men are more likely to support the ban than women. Not surprising per se, as women tend to poll somewhat leftward than men, including on this issue.
Millennials are more likely to support the ban than older generations. Why? One possible answer is that they have more at stake. Generation Z lives up to the low expectations with the worst numbers. It’s the only generation that’s narrowly opposed.
Overall though, pluralities support the ban. How long that will last under enough social pressure is the question. Is this a breaking point, or just another inflection marker?
One point, the media has been talking a lot about the social conservatism of Hispanics, but this is one area where they have far lower opposition numbers than white or black respondents.
Still the numbers are there for most groups, except Democrat women.
And here’s one really huge deviation from the polling norm that I don’t know how to explain.
Strong support for the ban rises with education level from 35% among non-college graduates, to 36% for college graduates, and to 38% for post-grads. The latter are usually the leftiest demographic. Total support among post-grads is at 59%. Opposition to the ban sits at only 33%.
To put that into perspective, more post-grads are opposed than white people in general. Why might be an interesting question.
Is this where wokeness starts to crack?
