The media just can’t stop reminding us of how worthlessly biased it is.
The Pulitzer Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Indira Lakshmanan as executive editor.
Jon Sawyer, the Pulitzer Center’s founder and executive director, called Lakshmanan’s appointment a signal of the Center’s commitment to be a permanent presence in American journalism and education, addressing the deep divides that threaten our future well-being and democracy itself.
“We are honored that Indira is joining the Center,” Sawyer said. “She is a proven leader, a compelling voice both for the maintenance of essential journalism standards and for engagement with the global issues that affect us all.”
Here are some of those examples.
“And by saying we’re some of the most dishonest people, he has normalized hatred towards journalists, and that is wrong,” she added.
Lakshmanan said it was “wrong” for Trump to use “this kind of violent language against people in the audience or against the press.”
“I think you’ve got a real problem, that normalization of violence is wrong,” she continued.
Here are some samples of her work.
Poynter surveyed 2,100 Americans in early November and found that just 49 percent trusted the news media to report the news “fully, accurately and fairly.”
“Disturbingly,” as Indira Lakshmanan, the Newmark chair in journalism ethics at Poynter who commissioned the study put it, some 44 percent of Americans “believe the press invents negative stories” about President Donald Trump. Among Republicans who were asked that question, that ratio leaped to 74 percent.
I can’t imagine why.
