The polls showing that Zohran Mamdani, a socialist and Muslim terror supporter who only became a citizenship in 2018, could become the mayor of New York City, where his compatriots murdered thousands of Americans, may or may not be true, but there’s no reason why they wouldn’t be.
Mamdani is up against Cuomo, a repulsive and widely hated figure that opponents of the Muslim socialist are only getting behind because the alternative is even worse, and then Mayor Eric Adams, whom much of the city probably right believes is corrupt. There are other candidates in the race, but at this point they don’t really matter very much.
But above all else, the only reason Mamdani’s numbers look this good is that ranked choice voting is doing what it’s supposed to.
Ranked choice voting is designed to elevate fringe candidates who normally wouldn’t have much of a shot in a normal race. And then the same hipster-industrial complex that went to town making De Blasio seem cool and relatable goes to work on what sociopath they picked to make him seem acceptable to at least enough people, not as a first choice, but as a choice.
Add on the large voting base of elderly people who assume that candidates are ranked in order of preference and end up ranking bad candidates last, the whole thing can be moneyballed into a catastrophe.
Like with Chicago they elect Liberal Democrats then watch their City go down the Tubes
Rank choice voting is a scheme designed to undermine Republican representation.
Excellent topic and analysis. Ranked choice has some murky effects that aren’t well understood.
Guess 9/11 was not enough for New York people. Guess they need a worse lesson. I got popcorn, go at it,
All New Yorker’s need to do is look at London.
Londonistan.
New York: = New Yorkistan (soon)..
America has forgotten that it took centuries for Europe to throw off the invaders.
Just wish the Metropolitan Museum of art could be picked up and moved to somewhere that is NOT NYC.
Maybe Peoria or Fresno?
Yes, nothing beats the ginger cocktail in the members’ lounge, and nothing beats looking over Greek art after downing a couple.
No, it’s springtime local elections, when the fewest voters (extremists) mostly vote. Democrats use springtime local elections to push in their extreme agenda. Only 3% of a city pop. actually elects the “winners” including the many clowns we see today. Normal voters are disengaged in spring or disillusioned more likely.
The Constitution should be asserted to move local and state elections to the same cycle as national or general elections, in November.
Then let the people suffer until they DO get engaged. A 3% turnout is a disgrace.
Ranked choice voting, combined with the voter fraud experienced in the last decade, would create a situation where votes are switched, combined, and twisted such that the public would never know who actually won, except that someone was picked to be the winner.
Apparently just what the left wants.
That is what the left does. When they get entrenched, they do as they like. They just have theatrics for show. Remember, it’s not who votes. It’s who counts the votes.
Do you think ? Ranked choice voting was the brain child of leftist democrats accepted by RINO republicans. And has been used to install candidates who couldn’t win in a one on one party line vote.
Whoever thought universal suffrage was a good idea should look around the world from the 20th century on. The masses will always vote for bread and circuses and will willingly follow the pied piper down the sinkhole.
Ranked choice voting is a complex scheme designed to confuse voters and thereby violate their right to vote. Much like the literacy tests in the South that were designed to keep the Black vote down and was later made illegal. Can we find some rare conservative federal judge, perhaps one in Texas, who will issue a nationwide injunction against it; just following the precedent set by Democrats.
Another excellent point, it confuses the voters.
I do not see, anywhere above, an argument WHY ranked choice voting would favor the left. Nor have a seen any coherent argument elsewhere. It’s clear that they DO take advantage of it, but that could simply be the fact that they always do see the road to victory in any change in voting.
I also have no idea what the final sentence is supposed to mean.
I’m glad someone is questioning the belief of both the left and the right that Ranked Choice Voting favors the left.
New Yorkers seem to have set themselves up for suicide. They will either elect a lying, narcissist and killer of the elderly or a raging lunatic communist and Islamic supremacist. Either way NYC is toast.
I saw Mommydaddy Borat screaming in the faces of cops on TV. I would’ve bitch slapped his face off his head if I’d been there.
I strongly suspect pussies like him only get away with shit like that because normal people like me are kept away from them by our authorities, many of whom are corrupt. Many more are good but it seems like the ones in charge
in most places aren’t.
Come near me and see what happens, Mohammed. You’l get your 72 big demon virgins and they’ll buttfuck you for eternity. You’d probably like that, though.
Given the sheer amount of fraud built into our elections, especially those carried out in Blue Cities/States, I don’t think the citizens in large swaths of the country are choosing their representatives.
If the citizens controlled elections, don’t you think one of America’s Blue Cities or States would have elected a Republican by now?
The fact that once the Democrats obtain power, they can’t be voted out regardless of how bad things get, seems to confirm my beliefs.
Yes, the evidence proves you’re right.
Excellent point, the evidence proves it.
NYC is going to find out good and hard what happens when you elect a Black Jihadist. Hey NYC who’s your Mamdaddy now?
You stupid effing fools. You found out how Effed up Bill de Blasio was. Chicago is now experiencing Brandon Johnson. He is worse than de Blasio. And all of those leftist black female mayors in D.C., LA and San Fran and God knows where else.
You will have to go through hell before you get your heads straight. Glad I don’t live where you do.
Hey Daniel, good piece, but I don’t get why ranked-choice voting is the culprit since Mamdani got 43,5% and Cuomo got j36.4%. Under ranked choice, if no candidate exceeds 50%, the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated. Their votes are redistributed to the next ranked candidate on each voter’s ballot. This process repeats, round by round, until a candidate achieves a majority.
The voters for the bottom seven candidates–Myrie, Blake, Tilson, Ramos, Prince, Bartholomew, and Stringer–will give the election to Mamdani if they ranked him above Cuomo. If they did, then the problem isn’t ranked-choice voting; it’s the mental and moral deterioration of New York City. I witnessed the deterioration when I served on a Manhattan Grade Jury in 2000, and subsequently i moved out of the city in 2009, anticipating its long-term collapse. I still own an apartment there and expect it to halve in value within eight years.
The problem in NYC is the education system, not the voting system .New Yorkers are brainwashed to believe in left-wing solutions from an early age. Today, they are likely indoctrinated in antisemitism as well. In order to change New York, its entire education system requires reform, but the state’s GOP has been wallowing in corruption and incompetence since the days of Pataki and D’Amato. The need to reform education became evident in the late 1980s .
