We all have to be very worried about global warming. The oceans are rising. The southern hemisphere will become uninhabitable. Snow is disappearing The rate of cold weather deaths doubled. Wait, what?
Deaths in the United States from cold weather-related causes have been rising, according to a study published Thursday in a medical journal.
The study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), found that the number of Americans who died from cold weather-related factors more than doubled from 1999 to 2022, with the highest rate being detected in the Midwest.
In the Midwest? Not in Florida?
In their study, Wadhera’s team tracked U.S. death certificates for the over 63.5 million Americans who died between 1999 and 2022. In total, exposure to cold temperatures was listed as a direct or contributing factor in a death in 0.06% of cases over that time span.
However, the rate at which these deaths occurred more than doubled over the 23 years covered by the study: From 0.44 deaths per every 100,000 people in 1999 to 0.92 deaths per 100,000 by 2022.
That worked out to an 3.4% annual increase in cold-related deaths year-by-year since 1999, the Harvard team calculated.
However, the bulk of the change occurred between 2016 and 2022, they noted, which has coincided with accelerations in climate change.
So much so that suddenly everyone began dying of the cold?
But wait, warmunists were telling us that winter was vanishing.

Winters are getting warmer… and killing people with their cold.
Does this heavily hyped study published by JAMA even show that weather is killing people at higher rates, or that homelessness and drugs are?
American Indian/Alaska Native populations also had much higher odds of dying from cold exposures, as did Black Americans, compared to white Americans, the study found.
That’s consistent with people in minority populations too often living in spaces with a “lack of home insulation or heat,” Wadhera’s group pointed out.
Besides climate change, the researchers also cited a rise in risk factors such as “homelessness, social isolation and substance use” as playing a potential role in the increase in cold-related deaths.
Now remember the glory days of COVID? This study depends on deaths from underlying or contributing factors.
More than 40,000 people died between 1999 and 2022 in situations in which cold was found to be the underlying or a contributing factor, according to the study.
This study isn’t showing the effects of changing weather but lefty cities subsidizing homelessness.
But if you want more cold winter deaths among the elderly, go ahead and push more ‘green’ poverty that will make fuel more expensive so more elderly people die so that government officials can push for more green policies to save the planet in their name.
That’s not satire. It’s literally government policy in the UK.
From what I understand, the reason behind this paradoxical result is the disturbance in the Jet Stream, the band of strong winds (about 200 mph) around 30,000 feet over North America. Since the Arctic warms relatively more than other regions, the difference in pressure becomes less as the global temperature warms. The lessened difference no longer forces the Jet Stream into a circular band and it becomes sinusoidal, reaching further South than previously. Though this Arctic air is warmer than it used to be, it is still frigid, causing those deaths spoken of. Yes, it’s complicated and I can’t say I understand it fully, but from what I do understand, that is the reason.
Cold weather is a bitch. I grew up in a desert and I can tell you that cold is deadlier then heat. I’ve lived in Nebraska and Wisconsin. Those states are cold as fuck. Nebraska is even colder that Wisconsin, if you can believe that. I remember I went for a walk once in winter and my beard froze over. I looked like an ice cream cone. I couldn’t even feel my face.
Fuck that shit. San Jose is temperant and mild.
Yeah, I’m spoiled by this climate 🙂
I’ve experienced hypothermia a couple times. It is weird as ****.
Yes, when you get cold enough, you can’t really think clearly. I’m glad you lived through it.
It’s a bitch in NYC today, around 15 deg. F. But the way the TV weather boys/girls are shrieking and carrying on, you’d think it was never cold here before. Geez! Just bundle up and deal with it. It’s winter, after all.
Yeah, snow is snow, right? It comes every Winter. You just deal with it.
I prefer this balmy NoCal weather, though. I can wear shorts and a T-shirt even in December. It’s crazy here. And there are so many hot chicks it isn’t even funny. My girlfriend gets pissed because I talk about other girls I pick up on but who cares? I’m too old for that shit.
I don’t even know how many girlfriends I have. A lot.
You just wait – when Global Warming hits San Jose, and polar bears are in your front yard – then you know you should have listened: “Global Warming, damn you!! You’re a trickster, because this isn’t warm at all!!”
I think it was on FPM a few years ago that there was an article about the elderly in Britain buying books at a bargain store to burn to keep their homes warm.
Currently, it’s 33 degrees where I live in NW Florida. And my central air isn’t working.
I thought Florida was warm? 33 degrees is only one degree above freezing.
Here in Northern California I don’t even need a blanket at night. In fact, I kick them off on a regular basis.
The sad thing is that this “study” will create a headline or two which will further solidify the simple peoples’ previous misconceptions.
The academic portion of our society has been failing miserably for decades. The women are totally susceptible to drugs for any and all difficulties. Their children are dragged in as well.
I see no way out.
Our civilization will continue to fall without an outside attacker. Primitives will survive and look with wonder upon all the electronic devices strewn everywhere. Their will be no written materials to explain what happened. Ah well!
Why is that Tard wearing a parka on a beach?
I do think our descendants will be primitive savages, though.
Childhood memories of 30-foot snow banks and zero degrees from November until March notwithstanding, look at the actual data on temperatures and snowfall over the years and you will see it hasn’t changed much for as long as records have been accurately kept. I have this argument with people all the time and they don’t believe me. It doesn’t matter if they are 20 years old or eighty years old, everybody swears it was colder and snowed more when they were kids. I show them the temp and snow data, they can see with their own eyes there isn’t any change, yet they still don’t believe it.
Average global temperature hasn’t changed by a single degree fahrenheit in over forty years.
The lefties are lying scum.
Common sense and SANITY should be a TOP PRIORITY of PRESIDENT TRUMP’S term!
They should expose the LIES and CORRUPTION of “climate change” and stop funding it! Who was it that said “if you want more of something let Gov’t fund it”?? We should be doing the common sense actions to become energy independent and MANUFACTURING independent as well!
We need to get back to Communities that CARE about their neighbors – people down on their luck should not freeze to death! Illegals should not be housed in posh hotels at TAXPAYERS’ expense! So much stupid going on these days! What’s wrong with people??
“If you want more of something let Gov’t fund it?” That sounds like something Reagan woudl’ve said. He was funny, like Trump is.
Is that black chick on the right side of the photo walking topless? I wish I were there.
Here is hoping all those Devest in Fossil Fuels useful Idiots are learning aa Less they wont get from those annoying idiots from Greenpeace
I have gotten old. You know when you saw old people in sweaters when you were hot? I’m getting into that category.
I live in SE Arizona. I grew up in Hawthorne, CA near the beach.
Fortunately I got the habit of working out at age 14.
I usually work out at night.
My previous house had an Arizona Room. A screened in patio that I used as a gym and lounge.
I noticed the last 2 years the cold night air was like knives or shards of ice in me to the point of putting on sweats and a knit cap;
Before that the heat of working out would cause me to strip off items of clothing in the winter.
This won’t do so it took a couple years but I found a larger house and built an enclosed room on the back patio.
600 sq ft of space to workout and to have a lounge and spare guest bedroom.
I have heat and AC – now Arizona summer heat and Arizona winters have no affect on me.
Only freaking aging –
“They” say, it’s only a matter of time before we experience a major widespread power outage. “It’s not if, but when.” Whatever the reason… aging equipment, solar event, terrorism or an EMP, the likelihood of having no electricity for an extended period grows by the day.
Now think about that in relation to the outside temperatures. An outage in the warmer months of summer could be extremely uncomfortable, and even life threatening, but billions of people around the world survive equatorial temperatures every year. Unfortunately, thousands of elderly and people with serious health issues do die from this heat.
But, an extended power outage in the cold winter months would kill countless millions of people who could not flee to the warmest areas of the country. Colder temperatures pose more of an existential threat to our existence than warmer temperatures.
