There is a very small minority of Christians there to start with or there was in 2017 when I was there for 10 days on tour.

“here is a very small minority of Christians there to start with….”
No,not to start with.Christians formed a strong religious community in Palestine, behind a significant minority of Palestinian Jews, and a much larger Palestinian Muslim majority. The Occupation of the Palestinian Homeland by the Jewish diaspora and the recreation of a Zionist,Apartheid Israel contributed to the demise of the Christian communities in Bethlehem and Palestine. It is noteworthy that Christians, even those with Israeli citizenship, mostly identify as Palestinian, not Israeli.Maronites may be an exception, having a more complex history. Just sayin’.
Jews own this.

Christ said Christians and Jews would be persecuted intensely in the last days. Matthew 24::9 The people whom he has chosen to inherit his kingdom according to their belief and faith in him.

Prior to oslo surrender to arab terrorists, Bethlehem was primarily Christian.

I suggest that Zionist policies of the Apartheid Jewish state have contributed, more or less,to the demise of the Christian community in Bethlehem, not to mention the entirety of Occupied Palestine,AKA Zionist Israel, since the occupation of the Palestinian Homeland, and the resulting displacement and ethnic cleansing of Catholic, other Christian, and non-Jewish communities,by the Jewish diaspora,European,American, and regional.
Of course,Jews are fearful of Christians,American and otherwise, with good, historical reasons.Today,Jews know that their existential future is at the pleasure of the Christian West, including America, rather than the Palestinians and/or the Islamic states in the region. That the Zionist entity in Occupied Palestine is so dependent on the Evangelicals, including Christian Zionists, must be of grave concern to Jews. Knowing that the worm inevitably will turn,(it is just a matter of time),must worry the Jewish Lobby in America.I know if I were Jewish,I would be worried. One good reason for Jews to seek allies with the Palestinian People.To-date,Jews give no reason for Palestinians to trust, much less care about them,or their children. Just sayin’.
