The immovable object and the unstoppable force collide.
If you recall, MSNBC’s Joy Reid had a blog full of politically incorrect opinions. When it came out, she mumbled something about being hacked and the whole thing went away. Mostly.
Now in her new higher profile, Reid dared to attack President Trump by comparing him to Muslim leaders.
“Leaders, let’s say in the Muslim world, talk a lot of violent talk and encourage their supporters to commit violence. … We in the U.S. media describe that as radicalizing people,” Reid said during the segment. “That’s the way we talk about how Muslims act.”
“When you see what Donald Trump is doing, is that any different from what we describe as radicalizing people?” she asked.
Rep. Ilhan Omar did not react well to it.
“Honestly, this kinda of casual Islamophobia is hurtful and dangerous,” Omar, one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, tweeted Tuesday. “We deserve better and an apology for the painful moment for so many Muslims around our country should be forthcoming.”
I’m sure Muslims were deeply traumatized by an offhand remarks on an MSNBC show few people watch.
Omar picking this fight is kind of interesting. She made it through a bruising primary and has repeatedly battled allegations of antisemitism. What’s the percentage in attacking a prog ally like Reid over an offhand remark? The only conclusion Dems can have here is that Omar’s a pain. But Omar prioritizes Islamist agendas over any kind of larger leftist alliance. And this ought to be a reminder to the Left.
