It’s hard to have a sense of humor when you’re a joke.
That’s Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee’s problem. Fresh off a scandal caused by punished an alleged rape victim for reporting a sexual assault allegedly committed by a Congressional Black Caucus official, Lee tried to shift attention with some committee theatrics.
At one point, Jackson Lee was interrupted and asked for her time to be restored.
“Can the clock be restored?” Jackson Lee asked.
Whitaker quipped in response, “I don’t know if your time has been restored or not.”
Jackson Lee then chastised Whitaker for his humor and said he was there “because we have a constitutional duty to ask questions and the Congress has the right to establish government rules.”
“Mr. attorney general, we are not joking here,” Jackson Lee said. “And your humor is not acceptable.”
Sheila Jackson Lee, if you’re recall, is a queen and expects to be treated like one.
She’s been documented calling her employees ‘you stupid motherf***er,’ while referring to herself as Congressional royalty.
‘You don’t understand. I am a queen, and I demand to be treated like a queen,’ she was quoted saying in 1998, three years into her nearly 23-year tenure on Capitol Hill.
Too bad we’re a constitutional republic, not a monarchy.
