I don’t think pre-taped canned speeches with network anchors talking over them is gonna do it. More Democrats need to follow Rep. DeFazio’s lead and chain themselves to mailboxes.
DNC night 2’s network TV ratings weren’t too glamorous.
Among the adults 18-49 rating, the demo, the most valued ratings category, hardly anyone watched with ratings like 0.2. But then again the demo hardly watches TV anymore. It binges on streaming programming.
But an episode of America’s Got Talent so thoroughly outdrew the DNC that there’s no basis for comparison.
Even outside the demo, more people watched reruns of shows like FBI, NCIS and Modern Family than showed any interest in tuning in later to the DNC.
The ‘lead-in’ for the DNC on CBS, an FBI rerun scored a 3.5 while the convention dropped to a 2.0.
America’s Got Talent scored a 5.5 to the DNC’s 2.3, and only on ABC did an episode of What Would You Do match its DNC follow-up.
The networks wanted to avoid airing this train wreck and you can see why.
