Jon Ossoff writing this letter demanding yet another investigation into the shooting death of Al Jazeera activist Shireen Abu Akleh is not surprising.
Ossoff used to do business with Al Jazeera. The state propaganda network of Qatar, a backer of Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Taliban, and other Islamist terror operations, is at war with America and Israel.
The Senate leftist is also backed by the anti-Israel J Street pressure group.
The question is why did Senator Mitt Romney decide to sign on to Ossoff’s letter? Revealingly, Romney’s press release makes no mention of his own letter.
While Romney postured as pro-Israel during his presidential campaign, he has more recently joined the crusade for Qatari terror agent Jamal Khashoggi. Indeed, Romney issued multiple press releases blasting President Trump and administration officials on behalf of Osama bin Laden’s old pal.
The optimistic take is that Romney is calling for pressure on the Palestinian Authority to perform a transparent investigation. That is presumably what he’ll tell his donors. But there’s every reason to be skeptical to Romney signing on to a letter by a former Qatari employee in support of another Qatari attack on Israel. So the only optimistic take is that Romney had no idea what he was doing. That’s not much reason for optimism.
