The media keeps pushing the Clinton campaign’s Russia collusion myth. Meanwhile if you look at their respective track records, as I pointed out, it’s really obvious which administration was colluding with Russia.
The media is outraged over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. But when that happened, Ukraine asked for weapons and the only aid that Obama offered their country was MREs. It took months for Obama to come through with boots and tires. Meanwhile Trump has delivered actual weapons.
Why did Obama refuse to provide Ukraine with weapons? According to senior officials, to avoid antagonizing Moscow.
While Trump approved anti-tank missiles for Ukraine, Obama slow-walked shipments of boots, putting them on trucks instead of planes so that they took months to arrive, so as not to upset the Russians. Meanwhile the Trump administration cut the red tape by dipping into its own European stockpile
Obama shelved missile defense for Poland and the Czech Republic. Trump cut a multi-billion deal for selling Patriot missiles to Poland. When Obama provided Patriot missiles to Poland, he neglected to mention that the batteries would not actually contain missiles.
The Poles described them as “potted plants”. Now there’s an actual base on the table.
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he is considering permanently basing U.S. troops in Poland, a country that has offered up to $2 billion in financial support in hopes of luring American forces to the country.
“Poland is willing to make a very major contribution to the United States to come in and have a presence in Poland, and certainly it’s something we’ll discuss,” Trump said during a news conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda at the White House.
“I would very much like for us to set up a permanent base in Poland, which we would call Fort Trump,” Duda said at the press conference.
To that end, Poland has offered as much as $2 billion to set up a permanent U.S. base in the country. Within the U.S. military and among security analysts, there is a long-running debate over the merits of building up forces in Poland. Supporters of the idea argue it puts more American firepower in areas where NATO is more vulnerable and makes the alliance a more formidable deterrent to potential Russian aggression.
Some allies such as Germany, however, have argued a permanent NATO force in Poland or the Baltics would only escalate tensions with Moscow. Another concern is setting up a permanent base in Poland would cause a rift among NATO members and chip away at alliance unity.
Our presence in Germany is a Cold War legacy. And if Merkel’s government is opposed to something, that’s an argument in its favor. I don’t know that we need a base in Poland. But if we’re going to have Russia facing bases, they should be in countries that want us there. We have far too many bases in countries that make no secret of hating us, e.g. Germany, Qatar, South Korea, already.
