Here’s one of the latest conspiracy theory triumphs of the #resistance as it lurches deeper into weird bigotry.
Moreover, there are strange Israeli footprints all over the Trump-Russia story. Quite a few of the shady figures close to the president and his business affairs are American Jews of Soviet heritage who possess connections to Israel. Felix Sater and Michael Cohen are only the best-known of this dubious crew. Those men are also connected to Chabad of Port Washington, a Jewish community center on Long Island that is part of the worldwide Chabad movement—which reportedly possesses close links to Vladimir Putin and his Kremlin.
That’s John Schindler in The Observer, which was owned by Jared Kushner, who attends a Chabad synagogue. So he must be on it too.
But let’s zoom in for a moment on the creepy phrasing of, “American Jews of Soviet heritage”. What’s Soviet heritage exactly? I’m not sure whether language like that would be more associated with the Nazis or the Commies. But it’s creepy either way. Also dumb.
Michael Cohen’s father is a Holocaust survivor who was born in the 1930s and escaped Poland. I’m a little vague on how being born in Poland before it became a Soviet colony, and coming to this country at a young age, makes you “of Soviet heritage”.
Maybe some of the #resistance heroes who circulate this stuff can explain?
Presumably, Schindler meant to refer to Cohen’s wife. Though that’s pushing heritage quite a bit. And takes guilt by association into a new level of obscene bigotry.
If any Jewish person who attends a Chabad synagogue (they’re usually a very convenient option, especially in places that don’t have a lot of Jewish infrastructure, including Mumbai (see Mumbai massacre), can be accused of being in on the conspiracy, then we’ve moved from a Russian conspiracy to a Jewish conspiracy.
