Did anyone seriously think Samantha Bee would actually apologize?

Sure, her damage control people (or rather the damage control people who work for the companies who invested a lot of money in her) might have issued some sort of official immediate apology. But you just knew that Bee’s on-air apology would be a self-righteous non-apology that would virtue signal her wokeness while claiming that she did it because she was so outraged about social injustice.

And here we go.

“A lot of people were offended and angry I used an epithet to describe the president’s daughter and adviser last week,” Bee said on her first show since the controversy.

“It is a word I have used on the show many times, hoping to reclaim it. This time I used it as an insult. I crossed the line, I regret it and I do apologize for that.”

Bee isn’t apologizing to Ivanka. Instead she’s apologizing to female body parts. As best as can be made out.

The comedian said she regretted that she allowed the discussion to center around her obscene word instead of the immigration policy she was attempting to highlight.

That part is sincere.

The left cares about its objectives. Bee interfered with those objectives. So she’s apologizing to the people who really matter. Lefty influencers. The people with actual power over her career.

“I would do anything to help those kids. I hate that this distracted from them,” Bee said. “So, to them I am also sorry.”

That’s right.

Bee called Ivanka what she did for the kids.
