In the least surprising development ever, terrorist supporters are defending terrorists.
An appeals court ordered two lawyers accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail inside a police vehicle to report back to jail. The decision comes two days after a judge allowed the accused to post bail and return home.
On Wednesday, Salmah Rizvi, a former Obama administration official in both the State and Defense Departments, guaranteed the bail of Urooj Rahman, one of two New York City attorneys accused in the failed attack on a police cruiser parked outside the 88th Precinct in Fort Greene.
Authorities say Urooj Rahman and Colinford King Mattis tossed a Molotov cocktail through a broken window of a police cruiser just before 1 a.m. local time on Saturday. After the firebomb failed to ignite, Rahman jumped into a van and sped off with Mattis. Cops pursued the vehicle and apprehended both suspects. Cops discovered another Molotov cocktail and a gasoline container in the back seat of the vehicle.
The Feds took this over because local authorities in blue cities absolutely can’t be trusted on anything involving the leftist rioters. The evidence is pretty undeniable, so lefties have turned to pounding the pulpit on their behalf and waving their arms in the air.
A whole bunch of former federal prosecutors, you can guess the party, signed a letter on their behalf.
And a variety of Islamic groups joined the effort.
n a statement, a coalition of 35 Muslim, South Asian and Arab civil rights and advocacy groups argue the treatment is disproportionately harsh and likely linked in part to the lawyers’ racial and ethnic backgrounds. Rahman, 31, is a Pakistani American Muslim woman. Mattis, 32, is the son of Jamaican immigrants.
“These excessive charges targeting Colin and Urooj set a dangerous precedent, and function to instill fear and stifle protest by Black, South Asian, and Muslim protestors at a moment where millions take to the streets worldwide to demand justice,” the statement reads. “This prosecution is also rooted in a longstanding history of anti-Black racism and structural Islamophobia in the United States.”
The coalition, led by the American Muslim Bar Association, Believers Bail Out and Justice For Muslims Collective, claims the pair is being targeted “for their solidarity with those murdered by state violence.”
