The Democrats have mostly given up on the Russia conspiracy. Their new focus is the Ukraine, and Trump’s supposed pressure on the country, rather than a foreign conspiracy. Then why is there an obsessive need for secrecy complete with the SCIF theater? 

There isn’t one. The only remaining secret is the same one. The profound weakness of the impeachment case.

The campaign against Trump has been secret from the beginning for three reasons…

1. To hide the partisan Democrat roots of things like the Steele Report

2. To conceal government targeting of the political opposition

3. To cover up just how weak the case is

Numero uno was blown a while back. The current episode will, in time, once again show even more Dem roots than have already been revealed. And the pretense otherwise has grown extremely thin. Number two isn’t being concealed very hard anymore either, but the issue has shifted from the Obama administration going full Watergate to its embedded assets in the bureaucracy waging political war.

But the real secret, the one defined by the first two points, is the third one. There’s never been a ‘there’ there.

You don’t need to spend this much time hiding everything, beginning with the Steele Report, if you have a good case. And yet, beginning with the Steele Report, the FISA applications, the Mueller investigation, all of it has been kept secret while being mischaracterized by selective leaks. Schiff’s desperate gambit now depends on the same old, worn tactic.

Never mind that once the documents get published, like the Mueller Report, they turn out to have nothing actually in them. This time around, the same hacks are promising that they’ve got the good stuff. And, once again, it’s so good they have to keep it a secret.

There really is a sucker born every second.
