Democrats and even their teachers’ union allies appear to understand that most parents won’t accept another year of closed schools. (But don’t bet against them trying to test those boundaries anyway if they sense that they can get away with it.)
But masks are infuriating almost as many parents.
School choice activists seized on pandemic public school closures to get elected officials to open up systems with school vouchers. School mask mandates are proving to be another way of opening up the public school cartel.
The Florida Department of Education has approved an emergency measure allowing parents to transfer their children out of schools that impose mask mandates using private school vouchers.
Parents will now be allowed to access vouchers for private schools if they feel COVID protocols “pose a health or educational danger to their child.”
The rule was approved during an emergency meeting on Friday.
The media, lefty activists, and the unions (but I repeat myself three times) are having their expected meltdowns, but they only have themselves to blame.
The behavior of the teachers’ unions during this pandemic was greedy, selfish, and vicious even for a parasitic network that exists to feed off children. The unions are losing their cultural power and parents, many of whom are far from conservative, have had enough. And if the unions manage to destroy the power of their own cartel, that would be, as lefties like to say, karma.
