Secretary of State Blinken visited Israel where he appeared to spend much of his time berating Prime Minister Netanyahu and the new Israeli government against democratic judicial reform.
Under the current system, Israel’s Supreme Court has unlimited power, selecting its members and claiming standing and absolute authority to intervene in any and every case it chooses while basing the decisions on its own whims due to the lack of any constitution.
Judicial reform would restore some democratic checks and balances to Israel. The new government coalition was democratically elected to, among other things, restore democracy.
The Left and the media have been going wild because they hate democracy and prefer to rule through the judiciary, not to mention prosecutors and assured institutional unelected systems.
Secretary of State Blinken decided to dive in by warning Israel against fighting terrorism.
“We continue to believe that the best way to achieve it is through preserving and then realizing the vision of two states. As I said to the prime minister, anything that moves us away from that vision is, in our judgment, detrimental to Israel’s long-term security and its long-term identity as a Jewish and democratic state. That’s why we’re urging all sides now to take urgent steps to restore calm, to de-escalate. We want to make sure that there’s an environment in which we can, I hope, at some point create the conditions where we can start to restore a sense of security for Israelis and Palestinians alike, which of course is sorely lacking,” he scolded.
Nice to know that Israelis and terrorists are equally responsible to de-escalate.
Then he pushed for a ban on Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount, the holiest place in Judaism, under the guise of the status quo. “We also remain committed to supporting religious coexistence and diversity, including in Jerusalem. We continue to support upholding the historic status quo at Jerusalem’s holy places, including the Temple Mount Haram al-Sharif.”
Then the speech got into the main event.
“Throughout the relationship between our countries, what we come back to time and again is that it is rooted both in shared interests and in shared values. That includes our support for core democratic principles and institutions, including respect for human rights, the equal administration of justice for all, the equal rights of minority groups, the rule of law, free press, a robust civil society – and the vibrancy of Israel’s civil society has been on full display of late.”
“The commitment of people in both our countries to make their voices heard, to defend their rights, is one of the unique strengths of our democracies. Another is a recognition that building consensus for new proposals is the most effective way to ensure they’re embraced and that they endure. Our fellow democracies can also make us stronger. That’s what the United States and Israel have done for each other over many decades, by holding ourselves to the mutual standards we’ve established; and by speaking frankly and respectfully, as friends do, when we agree and when we do not.”
“The discussion that the prime minister and I had today was no exception. That conversation will continue, including with other members of Israel’s Government and civil society, as part of a perpetual process to defend and bolster the pillars of our democracy, which we are both committed to.”
The general assumption is that Blinken was talking about judicial reform. Here he’s even more out of line than anywhere else because the Biden administration has no business in interfering in Israeli politics.
But Blinken decided to go for it anyway while opposing democracy.
During his meeting with leftist president Herzog, a figurehead with no meaningful authority, Blinken became even more explicit.
“I also heard and seen your comments regarding the Israeli internal situation – of course, the constitutional argument that has ensued in the Israeli public, something which I’m heavily devoted to and trying to resolve or lead into a path of an internal dialogue. As you said correctly, this is an issue that requires a wide consensus and it is an issue that many democracies debate on,” Herzog urged, conniving to have a foreign official intervene in an Israeli internal situation.
Blinken responded with, “I would simply say how much we appreciate, Mr. President, your leadership, the clarity of your voice when it comes to working to de-escalate tensions here among communities, the clarity of your voice when it comes to finding a good way forward that builds consensus on the question of judicial reform.”
The idea here would be to turn over judicial reform to Herzog. Considering that Herzog was the former Labor boss up against Netanyahu, that would be putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.
It is however nice of Secretary of State Blinken to come to Israel and tell Israelis to stop letting the people rule and go back to having the ‘Herzogs’ rule so that the Left can run the country.
Government by a self-selected judiciary. I think I saw a word for that some months ago but now I can’t find it.
Britain may have suffered from something like that at some points in her history.
Blinken should be told that what Israel needs is a judiciairy that hears and decides cases, rather than a Jim Crow Court that protects the interests of the secular Ashkenazi elite that never accepted the victory of Begin in 1977 and Netanyahu whose leadership freed Israel from being a socialist economic backwater.
Netanyahu should tell Blinken in no uncertain terms that Israel will do what is necessary to protect Israel from Iranian backed terror while making peace with the surrounding Arab countries who long ago decided that they were not going to die in solidarity with and for Arafat, Abbas & Co.
He should tell Blinken to go suck a bag of dicks. I would if I ever met him.
It seems the democrats want not only to destroy the US, but Israel as well.
Israel is gaining allies, while the US under the left, is gaining more enemies and far less in, “leaders.” Bibi, knows how to take his nation forward while the left in the US is busy taking our nation backward.
The US could learn from Israel, but, not if the democrats have anything to say about it. The democrats are all about ignorance.
How precious that Blinken twit. The gall to even equate the presence of that Muslim symbol of hate on Temple Mount as having any legitimate right equal to Israel’s thousand of years of actual right to be there.
I’m no historian or expert but I think the core of the problemis that in one point of history the Israeli said like “Oh, we need a new place”or so and went to the Westbank where the people of Palestine lived for thousand’s of years. Please check the maps.
Same way as the American’s stole the land of the Indian’s.

I think the Israeli’s should settle down their weapon’s, their tank’s and F-16’s and just start to talkto the Palestinian’s.
The UN opposes their land grab as well the EU and the US and Amnesty International, and Oxfam and countless other NGO’s who fight for human right’s.
People should talk to each other and not behave like Putin!

Stop the hate lay down your weapon’s. The Palestinian’s are a oppressed and desperate people. They deserve to be heard. Let us end this conflict. But to be sure the Israeli’s should pay some reparation’s to the Palestian’s for all the violence. The Gaza wars.
But my critique ist not one sided. Where is President Obama? He could and should lead a commité for peace talk’s. Who would be better qualified than him? He’s a Nobel Price winner for peace and he can always rely on former First Lady Michelle.
By the way, these sense less war’s also damage the climate. All these tank’s and F-16’s.

You obviously don’t know the history of Israel, it was NEVER Jew-free, it has Always had a Jewish presence there continuously since it was settled by Joshua after the exodus, you may want to revisit its history, the City of Hebron has had a constant Jewish presence living there till just of late when the ‘Palis’ drove so many out of there, it’s an ancient city that reaches back thousands of years.

The U S govt has now become tyrannical in the fact that they believe they can TELL everybody what they can & cannot do.
