How far up has that Hillary for President (third time’s the charm) trial balloon risen?
Far enough that Dem Senate members are shooting it down with their biggest shotguns. But once you launch a trial balloon in the New York Times, expect Politico to follow up.
“She’s done a great service to our country and public service, and I supported her wholeheartedly, but I believe it’s time for another nominee,” said Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin.
They’re trying to be nice about it.
“I don’t think it would be good for her,” said Montana Sen. Jon Tester. “She’s been through this war once. The Republicans have made a target out of her for 30 years and she’s still going to [be] that same target. I just think it would be tough.”
Joe’s all heart. But Hillary would sell whatever dregs of her soul are left for another shot.
Some are more unsubtle.
“That would be a mistake,” said Sen. Martin Heinrich of New Mexico. Asked to expound, he repeated: “That would be a mistake.”
Really unsubtle.
“Absolutely not,” said Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).
To repeat, no Dem who isn’t working for Hillary after burning every other bridge is pushing this. Speaking of…
Philippe Reines, Clinton’s longtime aide and adviser, doesn’t see things that way. On Fox News this week, he declined to rule out a Clinton bid and said that “there might be a reason that she’d be the best person” to take on Trump and govern in the aftermath.
You know things are really sad when Reines has to go on FOX News to push a Hillary candidacy.
About the only people interested in a Hillary candidacy, because of its train wreck appeal, are FOX News viewers.
Do I need to say anything more?
