This is Washington D.C. in a nutshell.
Railroads like the one involved in last month’s fiery crash and toxic chemical release in Ohio would be subject to a series of new federal safety regulations and financial consequences under legislation being introduced Wednesday by the state’s two U.S. senators.
An early copy of the Railway Safety Act of 2023, co-sponsored by U.S. Sens. Sherrod Brown and JD Vance, a Democrat and Republican, respectively, and several others of both parties, was obtained by The Associated Press. The bill responds to the fiery derailment of a Norfolk Southern freight train in East Palestine, in northeast Ohio near the Pennsylvania border, on Feb. 3, when 38 cars derailed and more burned…
The bill’s other co-sponsors, along with Mr. Brown and Mr. Vance — Democrats Robert Casey Jr. and John Fetterman, of Pennsylvania, and Republicans Marco Rubio, of Florida, and Josh Hawley, of Missouri — also want to increase the maximum fine that the U.S. Department of Transportation could impose for safety violations.
I’m not going to bother discussing the uniparty ‘unipartying’. The standout here is Fetterman.
The East Palestine train derailment happened on Feb 3rd. Fetterman was hospitalized on the 8th with a possible stroke and then ‘checked himself in’ for at least a month to deal with mental issues so severe that he was unable to take care of himself.
I’d love to know at what point exactly did he get around to reading and co-sponsoring this bill?
Especially since we were told by the New York Times that he had trouble processing and understanding what was going on even before he was hospitalized. And we haven’t heard anything from him since he was hospitalized.
Everyone knows D.C. is a joke, but this is a bit much.
This is the first major legislative foray for Vance, Ohio’s freshman senator. The bill boasts an impressive group of bipartisan co-sponsors, including Sens. Bob Casey, D-Pa., John Fetterman, D-Pa., and Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
No argument here.
Having a guy who was hospitalized because he couldn’t manage to take care of himself co-sponsor your bill is impressive.
Just before being officially hospitalized, Fetterman confirmed Biden’s 100th leftist judge. He co-signed a letter to the EPA and NTSB. Except that here’s the latest update.
Pennsylvania U.S. Senator John Fetterman’s Communications Director, Joe Calvello, on Monday afternoon released the following statement:
“We don’t have a lot to update folks with since there’s no real news to report except that John is doing well, working with the wonderful doctors, and remains on a path to recovery.
“He is visiting with staff and family daily, and his staff are keeping him updated on Senate business and news.
“Our team is moving full speed ahead and working tirelessly for the people of Pennsylvania. Just last week we opened a new office in Erie and will be opening several more offices in the coming weeks.
We have no real news about the guy who’s cosponsoring bills while being hospitalized for being unable to function. Now gang, let’s get out there and fight those threats to democracy.

That reminds me of Brezhnev (I think it was Brezhnev, and maybe a couple other leaders of the USSR in its declining years).

Another example of what’s rotten and corrupt in DC. Dianne Feinstein is clearly mentally compromised, yet she has vowed to complete her term and no one says anything about her demented state and she, too, will continue to vote from her bed wherever that may be.

Just why were hey transporting hazardous material through a populated area and what caused the derailment in the first place?

It is beyond outrageous that this fraud (installing a medically unsuitable candidate to the Congress of the United States of America) was ever perpetrated, not only on the people of Pennsylvania, but our nation as a whole. Washington, DC as it is today, is just a perpetual $hitshow! The installation of this individual is but one instance which shows just how precarious our government really is. No doubt, all the nations of the Earth who wish America ill are laughing their collective butts off right now!
No they’re not laughing. They’re too busy gorging themselves on our carcass.
Yes, the last place any enemy of the USA would nuke is DC.

You see Gracie it’s like this. Our Master;s are behaving like they are completely unaccountable to the voters because they know we can not get rid of them because of widespread institualized vote fraud. Get used to being Serf in a large Fief. The Republic is finished, put a fork in it.
Who needs senators anymore, when we have senators’ staffs? What are we paying the senators for, anyway? They make more than enough money off their power.
Steven Kardas says
Family and his staff are doing his “work” for him.. I wonder who can forge his signature the best ? Fetterman belongs in a nursing home , not the Senate. Strange times indeed…..
I know it’s way too late in the game, but most of these Senate cadavers could have been avoided had we repealed the 17th Amendment. Just sayin’.
