Despite the media spin, the only similarity between the Iran-backed militias attacking American diplomatic facilities in Iraq and the islamist militias attacking the United States diplomatic facility in Benghazi is the profound error of maintaining diplomatic facilities in terror states.
In Benghazi, the Islamic militias backed by Obama turned on America. In Iraq, the Shiite militias of the Iranian puppet regime in Baghdad backed by Obama turned on America.
What most people forget is that the Benghazi attack was part of a wave of Islamist attacks on American diplomatic facilities across the region timed for September 11. The Benghazi attack was simply the most spectacular one by the heaviest armed force.
Even Al Qaeda’s early focus had been on attacking American diplomatic facilities.
American diplomatic facilities have long ago ceased to be agents of American influence and power in the region, instead they have become the means by which stable terror states like Qatar subvert the United States, and hostages to fortune in the unstable ones where regimes like Qatar fund terror.
Our diplomatic corps in terror states is not a strength, it’s a weakness.
