Green Energy is a government-subsidized scam. We know what works. Oil, coal, gas, and nuclear. The latter is as clean as energy gets until we get to cold fusion. Or just beam down energy from orbit. Wind turbines and solar panels fail. And their failures are inevitable. They’re neither clear nor reliable.
And, outside California and a few southwestern states that have lots of sunshine and limited inclement weather, the environment doesn’t even exist to sustain them.
Democrats keep pushing them, in no small part because they stand to profit and because an unreliable and expensive energy grid is one way to get people to use less power, with disastrous results.
Nearly half of Texas’ installed wind power generation capacity has been offline because of frozen wind turbines in West Texas, according to Texas grid operators.
Wind farms across the state generate up to a combined 25,100 megawatts of energy. But unusually moist winter conditions in West Texas brought on by the weekend’s freezing rain and historically low temperatures have iced many of those wind turbines to a halt.
Wind power has been the fastest-growing source of energy in Texas’ power grid. In 2015 winder power generation supplied 11% of Texas’ energy grid. Last year it supplied 23% and overtook coal as the system’s second-largest source of energy after natural gas.
In Austin, wind power supplies roughly 19% of the city’s energy demands, all of which is passed from producers to consumers across the state grid.
Bad idea. Unsurprisingly.
A frigid blast of winter weather across the U.S. plunged Texas into an unusually icy emergency Monday that knocked out power to more than 2 million people, closed dangerously snowy and slick highways and put the delivery of new covid-19 vaccine shipments on hold.
That’s Texas. Meanwhile, over in Colorado, solar panels weren’t working all that well in the snow. Neither were the wind turbines in Wyoming.
Platte River Power Authority’s call for customers to conserve energy on Sunday resulted from a perfect storm of energy supply issues, as extreme cold created a regional shortage of natural gas, ice and frigid temperatures restricted power from wind turbines and blankets of snow covered solar panels.
NextEra Energy, the company that operates the Roundhouse Renewable Energy wind farm in southern Wyoming, shut those turbines down as ice coated the blades and frigid temperatures threatened the turbines’ structural components. Meanwhile, snow coated the solar panels at Platte River’s Rawhide Energy Station.
Who knew that relying on energy sources that depend on favorable weather conditions to power an energy grid that people rely on 24/7 was a bad idea?
Meanwhile, over in Europe, the world’s capital of green energy is snowed in.
Germany is held up as the world’s solar and wind capital by “renewables luvvies” but Germans are freezing through winter due to “millions of solar panels blanketed in snow” and turbines sitting idle, according to Rowan Dean.
“But as we speak millions of solar panels are blanketed in snow and 30,000 wind turbines are sitting idle because there’s no wind.
If only mankind had invented some sort of power source that works in the snow. I believe it’s called fire.
Green Energy actually takes us back to before the invention of fire.
And this is what the Biden administration wants to inflict on the entire country while promising imaginary ‘green jobs’ and subsidizing solar panels and wind turbines for rich urbanites at the expense of the rest of the country.
