To clarify, we don’t have an international election security problem. We certainly have a huge domestic one, but that’s due to forms of voter fraud and fake census districts that are the absolute very last things that the Democrats want to talk about.
Instead they’re currently throwing a fit about election security briefings. By which they mean assorted international conspiracies to reelect President Trump.
The problem with this nonsense from the very beginning is that election security means the actual integrity of counting the votes. And despite assorted conspiracy theories, nothing has been found that would show a foreign adversary can actually alter the results of the vote count.
But instead the Democrats have invented a disturbing theory which insists that election security means controlling content on social media. This has led to massive censorship and dubious investigations of mostly Americans and mostly Republicans, along with the profusion of claims that the 2016 election was illegitimate because of spam on social media. This is a pernicious and toxic theory that acts as an attack on the legitimacy of our political system and on free speech. It should have been exposed for what it is from the moment it took off, but instead the media and assorted experts have kept their conspiracy theories going for purely partisan reasons.
Social media is not an election security issue. Period.
Anyone who argues otherwise is pushing domestic political censorship under the guise of fighting foreign enemies. That’s a typical tactic for every totalitarian regime.
