This is coming from Barak Ravid at Axios who has spent the entire war pushing White House talking points so I have little confidence that there is any turnaround at the Biden-Harris administration even after the Hamas murder of six hostages. Nor do I have the faintest idea why anyone is shocked that an Islamic terrorist organization that launched this war with the mass murder and rape of civilians would kill hostages if they thought that they were going to lose them. How did they think Hamas got those hostages at all?
But since one of them was an American and his parents showed up at the DNC, perhaps there was a brief spark of human contact there.
One of the main questions raised during a meeting President Biden and Vice President Harris had with their national security team on Monday was whether there is a hostage-release and ceasefire in Gaza deal Hamas would ever agree to, U.S. officials said.
Biden and his top advisers were shocked after Hamas killed six hostages, among them U.S. citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and have started to rethink the way forward in the negotiations over the deal.
Somehow this only came up after more than half a year after Biden crumbled to the ‘ceasefire’ calls and spent all of his time demanding that Israel ‘end the war’ while pinning all his hopes on Qatar’s fake negotiations.
Despite all the media propaganda, there hasn’t been a deal on the table that would free all the hostages and any such deal would only be a prelude to Hamas launching another attack and taking more hostages.
Is anyone at the White House figuring this out yet?
A concern raised in the situation room meeting was that the U.S. could press Israel to reduce Israel Defense Forces deployed along the Egypt-Gaza border or on other issues, only to discover that Hamas doesn’t agree to other parts of the deal. That could mean the new offer would only become the foundation for future negotiations that would be more favorable to Hamas, a U.S. official said.
Islamic terrorists negotiate by making maximal demands, and then topping them, circling back and forth, wrecking any normal negotiating process, and then arranging to place blame on the other party. Then they demand to restart the negotiations all over again from the point of the last concession.
They’ve been doing this to Israel for over 30 years now. But they do it to all of us.
Hamas is doing exactly what the PLO did. And it worked out really well for Arafat and Abbas. But the only reason it kept working was the pressure from D.C.
When Trump became the first president to end the peace pressure campaigns, the farce ended until Biden restarted it.
I’m skeptical that Biden internalized any of it. Instead he left blaming Netanyahu rather than Hamas.
Algorithmic Analyst says
Yes, strange that they would be shocked.
Yet, it shows the persistence of a delusional mindset, which is hardwired in memory, and projected outwards.
Cognitive dissonance goes along with that, anything that doesn’t fit into existing memory is automatically discarded.
Jeff Bargholz says
Not so strange. They’re ideologues who see what they want to see rather than reality. Like you wrote, they’re delusional. It’s a self imposed delusion, too. It’s not like they ate peyote. They’re too wimpy to do that.

I see this in prior Kumbaya leftists who cannot support this current US admin on Israel but have always felt safe and protected by big government. They grapple with the possibility that just maybe what they believed is not completely true. When it is all false. Some of these people are deluded and still clinging to the idea of a kind, tolerant world.
The Harris Biden obama admin is not deluded at all. They’re evil.
Jeff Bargholz says
A Latina politician in CA, I think LA, just publicly announced she left the Dirtbagocrat party because it’s become too extreme and pushes too many communist policies on the proles. She said she’s a Republican now and will vote for Trump.
Not all the news we get is bad, I suppose.
Gordon says
Let’s not pretend that anyone in this administration is upset about Israelis or Americans being murdered. They care only about the optics and 24-hour news cycle.

true
Thomas Samek says
The Hamas attack of Oct 7 was DESIGNED to end diplomacy from a western perspective, to signal that this is Jihad to take back the land. Hamas put themselves outside of international norms intentionally. They are ruled by Sharia, not international law.
The idea that after Oct 7th, Hamas was a legitimate organization to make a deal is insane. For any strategic thinker, the outcome was evident. They are willing to kill Arab women and children, and command their own soldiers to kill themselves. Negotiate? No.
The only negotiation should be with Iran like this: Return the hostages and give up the leaders of Hamas NOW or we will destroy your entire oil exporting infrastructure and shut down your economy.
The entire situation would not have existed if Harris/Biden had not lifted the sanctions.

Israel’s ‘day after‘ scenario has always been to rescue every single hostage, blow up every single tunnel, remove every terrorist, take back its own territory and resettle her God given land. This requires total victory.
The US knows this. That is why the Biden/Harris plan is never to let Israel get to the ‘day after‘…… victory.
‘Ceasefire now’ prevents victory for Israel. It guarantees defeat.
It’s actually none of the anti-Semitic world’s business to know, and certainly not to dictate, what Israel will/should/can’t do the ‘day after’. But the overwhelming majority of Israelis, including hostage families and mourning IDF soldiers’ families, say this loud and clear: Total victory
There will eventually be no more terror against Jews from Gaza, ‘east‘ Jerusalem and the ‘west bank’. Eventually, the whole land of Israel will be secure and restored to the nation of Israel. Eventually, the rest of the world will leave Israel alone because they will have to confront their own life threatening problems at home, that is, if they still have countries called America, England, France etc.

The country is being run by delusional, self-righteous idiots.

“Biden and his top advisers were shocked after Hamas killed six hostages, among them U.S. citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and have started to rethink the way forward in the negotiations over the deal.”. And having rethought it, they decided they were right all along and criticized Netanyahu for ” not doing enough” to crater to Hamas.

“When Trump became the first president to end the peace pressure campaigns, the farce ended until Biden restarted it.”
Boy, that’s a sentence that means nothing.
Surprising how little you report about the internal debate in Israel on these issues. I wonder why.
Daniel Greenfield says
because there’s no debate
the majority of Israelis want to win the war
some hostage families are willing to do anything to get their loved ones back
some leftists care more about toppling Netanyahu and are using the hostages to stage the same rallies they’ve been staging for years
after their latest round of rallies, Hamas upped its demands
Algorithmic Analyst says
Most of the English-language Israeli papers that I can read seem to want to topple Netanyahu. A7 seems to be the exception.
cat says
They have a press like we do maybe worse.
Mickorn says
“There’s no debate”??????????
You are fulllllllllllll of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jeff Bargholz says
Yes, the Israeli fake news media must be mouth pieces for a particular political party opposed to Netanyahu’s, the way ours is a mouthpiece for the Dirtbagocrats.
I’m too lazy to look it up though. Google has so thoroughly corrupted the search engine process that I don’t want to slog through it.
Jeff Bargholz says
I don’t understand the antipathy for Netanyahu some Israelis have. He seems to be an excellent PM to me. I think their opinions are based on loyalty to political parties that are different than Netanyahu’s, not his job performance.
Kevin T Kilty says
Those hostage families protesting Netanyahu’s efforts are being led by the same folks who have been out to destry Netanyahu for a very long time — longer than the current crisis by many years. NDS is almost an exact replica of TDS. Same characters. Same tactics.
Jeff Bargholz says
How does it mean “nothing,” you moron? And he does write of the differing Israeli opinions on the hostages (likely all dead) and the campaign to destroy Hamas.
Just admit you support jihad terrorism and hate Jews, Israel and America, you wanker.
TruthLaser says
Israel debates. Arabs do not. Your posts are always bullslips of the tongue.
Intrepid says
Surprising how much you know about the internal debate in Israel on these issues. I wonder why.
Do you live there? Or do you just hate Jews that much?

Investigate the Guardian of International Peace and Security. statue on the Plaza in the visitor’s quarters……it looks like something out of a science fiction movie. It resides right outside the UN headquarters in New York. It looks like the beast which is like unto a leopard, and his feet of a bear, and his mouth as a mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him power, and his seat, and great authority. The guardian is a fusion of a jaguar and an eagle and is donated by the government of Mexico. REVELATION 13:2.
Daniel 7 refers to end time beasts and their end time purposes. These prophetic passages in Daniel are well known, and officials at the U.N. must have realized that the statue would be linked to Bible passages.

once upon a time, Israel would negotiate with terrorists using their commandos. Oh, Dear, where’s Moshe Dayan when you need him???
TruthLaser says
Negotiating with terrorists is always take on their part, falsely agree or not, and then violate anything agreed to. Then there is the gimmick of attributing violations to another group. Victory is the only solution that can provide security. Past victories have kept jihad away from Vienna, Tours, Rome, and Granada until the current migration jihad, which is making support for Israel go wobbly.

The Biden-HARRIS Administration suddenly sees some Jewish votes disappearing, so remedial action #1 is this silliness. They were not shocked. They were not surprised. They were all in for Iran and its stooges from the start.

How is it even possible that any US administration would be unaware of the insincerity of Hamas, or any Palestinian negotiator?
