I know we’re in the era of the Great Quit, but the turnover at Kamala Harris’ Office to Nowhere is still spectacular. No sooner does she hire new staffers than more old ones exit. At this rate her new staffers will quit almost as soon as she hires them.
Two staffers announced Wednesday that they are leaving Vice President Kamala Harris’ office.
Peter Velz, Harris’ director of press operations, shared news of his departure from the White House, which was first reported by Politico, in a series of tweets.
“Today is my last day at the White House, and it truly has been an honor. I will be forever grateful to Vice President Harris, the incredible Team @VP, and I’m so proud of our work this past year supporting this historic Administration,” Velz wrote. “The White House is an amazing place to work — you’re surrounded by the most selfless, smart, hard-working people everyday doing their best to serve the American people. And it has has [sic] been an absolute joy.”
It’s so awesome that he wants out after a year on the job so he can explore exciting new opportunities at…

Seriously. Any port in a storm.
The departures are the latest in a series of exits by staffers in the vice president’s office, including chief spokesperson and senior adviser Symone Sanders and communications director Ashley Etienne. News of each departure followed a myriad of reports, including by CNN, of staff infighting and dysfunction.
Good news though. Kamala has a new comms director.
Jamal Simmons, a longtime top Democratic communications aide, will be tapped as communications director to Vice President Harris, sources tell The Hill.
Simmons, a Michigan native who is widely respected in Democratic circles, has been involved in national politics since the Clinton administration. He went on to serve as deputy communications director for the Gore presidential campaign.
He’s also served as an aide to former Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fla.) and former Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark and was chief of staff to former Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick (D-Mich.).
That’s a hell of a record. Wesley Clark and Carolyn Kilpatrick. Not to mention the Gore presidential campaign.
At this rate, Kamala will soon be hiring the staff from Dunkin Donuts to run her office.
