America initially went with A after 9/11. And then decided to spend the next 20 years on B mode.
Israel is now understandably in A mode after spending even longer in B mode after the Oslo Accords. This is understandable to anyone who is a normal human being and therefore unemployable at the State Dept.
Assistant Secretary of State Bill Russo, overseeing global public affairs in the State Department, told Israeli foreign ministry officials in a call on March 13 that both the U.S. and Israel face a “major credibility problem” as a result of the “unpopular” Israeli military offensive in Gaza.
“The Israelis seemed oblivious to the fact that they are facing major, possibly generational damage to their reputation not just in the region but elsewhere in the world,” the memo says. “We are concerned that the Israelis are missing the forest for the trees and are making a major strategic error in writing off their reputation damage.”
The Israelis are too busy trying to win a war to worry about “reputation damage” since everything Israel does, beginning with merely existing, inflicts “reputation damage” since much of the Left and Islam spend much of their time launching every possible smear at Israel.
Israel was being accused of genocide even before Oct 7 for not letting Hamas invade Israel to kill Jews. Fighting back against Hamas is definitely genocide. Anything short of Jewish genocide is… genocide.
Israel is not going to win a “reputation” game, it can however rebuild its reputation of being too dangerous to attack. That’s worth a whole lot more in the Middle East than trying to win friends and influence enemies with territorial concessions and appeasement.
There are lessons here for America that the State Department is eager that we never ever learn.

The October 7 attack was just the initial attack to prepare the way for the main attack Sinwar had scheduled for some hours later. Fortunately by then it was too late since Israeli forces had been mobilized. If the main attack had been launched very soon after the initial attack it could have been big trouble.
Obviously there are no mirrors inside the State Department buildings, otherwise they’d be able to see that complaining about Israel “writing off their reputation damage” is the epitome of projection and the height of hypocrisy.

When world opinion tells you to submit and die like gentlemen, tell the world to stuff it.
Israel is doing what needs to be done while making the effort to minimize collateral damage. It is not their fault that Hamas chooses to hide surrounded by others and it is not their fault Gazans accept Hamas hiding amongst them.
Why should that damage their reputation? It is better than letting Hamas rebuild and strike again.
I look at the US and our growing debt problem. Politician after politician on both sides of the aisle put it off for others to deal with and the problem grows worse.
In the lead up to WWII, the future allies told Germany, “OK, you can have this country but go no further” followed by “OK, you can have that country, but go no further” followed by “OK, you can have the other, but go no further.”
At least Israel is facing up to the problem. If anything, Israel’s reputation as a serious country should grow.

Yes, the US faces a major credibility problem. The US is not currently willing to stand for what is right. How much credibility did Neville Chamberlain have?
The State Department employees act in their own self-interest. How many diplomatic jobs are there in Arab and Muslim countries? How many in Israel?
For thousands of years people all over Europe and the Middle East slaughtered and persecuted Jews as they pleased, secure in the knowledge that the Jews, stateless and powerless, could not defend themselves.
Jews lived at the mercy of the people of whatever place they found themselves.
Now, once again, Palestinians are determined to slaughter Jews and do so with glee at every opportunity.
But, since 1948, the Jews have a state and a military and the means to defend themselves as best they can from those who are determined to destroy them.
And the Politically Correct World cannot stand it.
Now the Politically Correct among us say that if the Jews have the nerve to actually defend themselves from those determined to slaughter them they must do so perfectly. There can be no Collateral Damage. No Palestinian civilians must be killed or harmed. No Gaza infrastructure must be harmed. No Palestinian children must suffer.
In short, the Palestinians must suffer no adverse consequences from their decision to attack Israel and slaughter Jews on October 7,.
Of course, no people fighting a defensive war against those who seek to slaughter them have ever been held to this standard.
Only the Jews have this impossible standard imposed on them when they are fighting those who have no standards of decency or civilized behavior.
Only Jews are condemned at being Oppressors when they actually defend themselves and refuse to go quietly to their deaths.
I am really glad that Israel possesses about 200 to 300 nuclear weapons.

2) A state of denial of reality
3) A state of moral bankruptcy and appeasement to terror
4) A state of fear of losing the pro-terror vote
5) A state of reckless endangerment to Israel

History of strategy shows it is very difficult to get the timing right for 2 seperate parts of an operation, like the initial attack on October 7, which succeeded beyond Sinwar’s expectation, and the main attack which he planned to follow several hours later.. History is littered with the failures of combined operations where one part came too late to assist the other part. If he had read history he should have known that.
