China’s collapse has often been predicted, but for the moment its economy is still going strong. And even as an economic war begins with the United States (or rather the U.S. finally begins fighting back), it will be hard to dislodge its parasitic economy which is wired into much of the world. At least from the outside.
From the inside, it’s another matter.
Many in the foreign policy establishment still see China as another USSR, an evil empire that can be undone by democracy movements and external competition. The last three decades disproved that decisively.
China’s Communist regime isn’t the USSR and it won’t fall to some democracy movement. What will it fall to?
The number of new marriages recorded in China fell to a record low last year, despite sweeping government efforts to encourage young people to tie the knot and have babies to halt demographic decline in the world’s second-largest economy.
Some 6.1 million couples registered their marriages in 2024, a plunge of 20.5% from the previous year, according to data released Saturday by China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs. It marks a record low since the ministry started releasing the statistics in 1986.
Plummeting marriages – and births – pose a severe challenge to Beijing, as it grapples with the pressure of a shrinking workforce and rapidly aging population on the country’s slowing economy.
The sharp drop in the number of marriages in 2024 resumed the decade-long decline since 2013, after a brief rebound in 2023 following the lifting of stringent Covid restrictions.
Last year’s figure was less than half of the 13 million marriages registered at the peak in 2013.
Remember all the jokes about the ‘marching Chinese’. What happened? State population control and consumerism.
The Communist regime taught its people not to have or value children. And then it converted them to its own version of capitalism in which the purpose of life was consumerism. The next generation of the disconnected families it dragged into cities aggressively competes for middle-class status and then uses it to enjoy life.
China is growing older and while it still has a large population, its leaders have crunched the numbers.
Xi has been training to shake up the youth, but that may prove to be no more viable than Putin’s similar efforts in Russia or Japan’s efforts to fix its birth rate.
Tyranny is easy. Culture is hard.
The Chinese people aren’t rebelling against Xi. But there is a kind of Irish Democracy underway in which they show less interest in what their traditional values were supposed to be.
China used consumerism to beat America, but in the process of becoming our drug dealers of consumerism, it also poisoned itself.
China is not a strong country. I realize that everyone will think I am a crazy old bat.
1. Food shortages. Swine flu, wheat mold. These two diseases cut food production by 15% beginning 3 years ago. Xi began the “clean plate club” to combat the problem. People are still hungry. They bought Smithfield and many others to fill the void. Also the drought puts more pressure on agriculture.
2. Jobs. With the shortage of births comes a shortage of workers, hence slave labor.
3. empty cities. other areas have empty cities as a large indicator of poor government planning
4. The USA sells 25% of the Chinese importation of food. Depending on your hostile neighbor to eat is poor policy.
5. Energy. Importing coal/oil etc. for your energy grid is poor planning/policy also
6. Taiwan. “,,,,,,,, % of the world shipping goes through the Taiwan Strait” Obviously as China is the worlds’ leader in exporting widgets and importing food and energy. They have to keep it open or starve in the dark. The bottleneck is a liability.
They are trying to keep their image high with smoke and mirrors but a tiny bit of research blows that up.
Smithfield Foods, the largest pork producer in the world, is no longer an American company either, it is owned by the Chinese company WH Group. Chinese companies during the globalist term of Obama.
We’ll see what President Trump has to say about that, as when he forced Chinese owners of American ports to sell them off.
No argument from me, Madame.
I’d even argue that America’s decline is the only thing propping up the regime and keeping the Chinese wealthy class in the money.
If we stop bleeping ourselves, and start producing our own widgets and doo-hickeys,
China will grind to a halt.
Of course, by that time some Democrat or RINO will be in office (say 2032 or 2036)
just in time to save the CCP
and protect the Chinese from enduring the horror of having homes, food, energy, prosperity, and so on …
Everything you wrote is true except about an employee shortage. The overwhelming majority of Chinese are rural peasants and the cities have no problems luring them in for crappy jobs.
And to add to it’s food woes, it practices EXTREMELY unhygienic food handling and storage.
“Tyranny is easy. Culture is hard.”
Chinese people will revolt! The dogs and cats that roam the streets at night all barked and meowed.
All the CCP has to do is force marriages and outlaw divorces and their numbers will artificially increase.
CCP had a one child per couple for years if not decades which is so unnatural.
I would not doubt because of the stress and tension of overburdening oppression as seen in rat population segregation by gender to observe behavior many rats acted in homosexual activities.
I would be the draconian oppression of the CCP is creating more fags and dykes in China because of their confusing and ridiculous rules to personal relationships and how many children a couple can have.
A Documentery Series Heart of the Dragon featured one about Eating shows Cat and Dogs sold as Food Items
I’ve seen videos and photos of dog meat markets but not cat markets. I’ve read reports of them, though.
Those snapper heads will eat anything, including bats, scorpions, spiders, bird nests made out of mud and bird spit, any slimy and nasty thing under the sea, etc. They used to eat each other in public during the Great Stumble Backwards during the Cultural Devolution.
If one of those zipper heads ever invites you to dinner, I recommend you decline.
Americans who only get their news about China from the western media have no clue about what’s really going on in China. Their economy is on the verge of collapse; military service is by conscription with government imposed economic sanctions against the families of those who fail to comply; with the exception of North Korea, Asian countries fear and despise China because of the Chicoms imperious attitude towards its neighbors; educated Chinese women are refusing to marry Chinese men and are having less children and that’s just for starters.
China has many growing intractable problems that the Chicom party policies further exacerbates. If not for stupid US government policies and US businesses propping them up, China would collapse.
I’ll never understand why our government has a thing for saving people and regimes who would gladly slit our throats and nuke us into oblivion if given the chance.
CNN. China News Network
All true. Gordon Chang is an expert on the “People’s Republic” (snort!) of China and writes books about it and comments about it on Newsmax and Real America’s Voice regularly. I used to see him on Fox news five years ago, before I dumped cable. He’s never on the Minitrue Media, of course. Truth is anathema to those trolls, and they’re the friends of all America’s enemies, and the enemies of all our allies.
Nine Commentaries.
It’s a documentary detailing the CCP’s rise and domination of China.
It’s also really gruesome.
If you think communism is bad, you’ve just scratched the surface.
I recommend seeing it – albeit – it’s not for the fainthearted.
It’s a good way to red-pill your kid. Especially if he’s in a public school.
Seeing what, NANC. No link or source appeared.
‘Tyranny is easy. Culture is hard.”
Daniel greenfield is a smart guy, It is why I a here and take notes.
But damn!, I bet even Greenfield does not know how smart he is.
I have been thinking why Russia and Czarist Russia had the military might, but not many want to be Russian. It is culture. There was no-buy in,
Greenfield summed it up in 6 words!
And except for beef stroganoff and potatoes, most Russian food is disgusting.
Not even the USSR fell to a “democracy” movement. It went bankrupt trying to compete economically with America.
I have a friend from mainland China and he says that Chinese women are becoming more and more like most Western women: sluts who like to have sexual freedom with the added caveat that they don’t want traditional, domineering, Chinese husbands.
