The Democrats had plenty of time to edge Biden out. Despite all the talk, no one seriously tried to do it.
Now they’re stuck.
The DNC rigged the primaries for Biden. He’s the nominee. There are possible convention challenges, but they’re a longshot because the power behind Joe Biden isn’t Jill Biden (many seem to think that a D of Ed community college talent is the Machiavelli here), but a network of political careerists who are using him and who in traditional fashion control the DNC. They’d have to be dealt in or crushed and the whole show would further wreck the party’s standing. It’s an open question if the Dems suffer worse with Biden on the ballot or a divisive convention fight that splits the party. Any talk of a 25th Amendment would be the same problem x 10.
Can the Dems get Biden out?
It’s possible. But it would require a rapid concerted effort to inform Biden that he can’t run again and has to announce that he will drop out for health reasons (and maybe to be there for Hunter and his family.)
That means Obama, Hillary and every influential party figure staging an intervention, it means informing key DNC people that unless they switch sides, they will be blacklisted, and making it clear that there is no longer an option in which Biden is the candidate.
Can this happen? Yes. But it would require getting everyone on board. And that would be a challenge (but much less than it would have been last week).
And yet at the end of the day, Biden can (and very well might) tell them to all go to hell. Obama was able to persuade Biden not to run in 2016. He may be less persuadable now. That leaves few good options.
I suspect Biden can be pressured to drop out. The Left managed to convince Justice Breyer to leave the Supreme Court. Biden isn’t exactly the picture of resilience now. But he does get the final word.
And if he doesn’t want to go, making him go will be difficult, devastating, and perhaps next to impossible.
The other problem with this scenario is that it leaves Kamala as the candidate. Much as the Dems would love to bring in Gov. Newsom (and I know people keep having Michelle fantasies despite the fact that she combines all the least likable aspects of Hillary and Kamala and none of the positive ones and also doesn’t want to run), getting Kamala out would be even harder because she’s not senile and the electoral existence of the party depends on black women.
The Dems are stuck. And they did this to himself.
There’s a lot of panicked talk among top Dems. Will the talk lead to any meaningful action or just (in typical D.C. fashion) soothing calls, promises of more access, excuses, and projections?
Few conservatives believed me when I said that Biden would run again and would be the nominee. Because disasters tend to be entirely foreseeable, I still think the odds are that the party will not drop him.
(But if there was ever a decision point that would lead to dropping him, that debate was it.)
I’m not sure the Dems don’t mind Joe being there. They had to know his mental and physical state and heroically defended him refusing to take a cognitive test. They might just figure more Jedi mind tricks will make last night fade in people’s memories and they can return to having a non compos mentis front man in the Oval Office who they can easily manipulate. I think that’s wrong and would be a disaster for national security but it’s worked for nearly four years now and they might figure it’s the least bad of all possible alternatives.
Fraud elections have consiquenses. My God, every sentient American citizen is asking themselves who has been running the White House all this time ? Our Nation is facing the THE biggest crisis in its history and it is in the White House right now.
This is why Democrats liked Chevron, where the rules and stuff come from the bureaucracy instead of elected officials.
They can pressure him to drop out for ”health reasons” by gently threatening to expose some of his dirty deals or doing likewise to Hunter .. My guess is that Biden will grudgingly go along with it , and they may be able to bribe Kamala Harris to quit with a promise of a job as Governor of Kalifornia . Biden will be like Johnson in 1968

He won the nomination and is entitled to it.
Even if he were to quit, what options would they have? Replacing him with Gov. Newsom would be an insult to Kamala Harris and African-Americans–placing a white man in the role Harris is meant to play if Biden can’t serve.
Placing Michelle Obama over Harris would also be an insult to Harris, and the ticket would be demographically un-diverse.

I think the most cringe inducing video from last night was her, after the debate, telling Joe “you got all the answers right” or something like he was a first grader who did well on a simple spelling test. Really vomit inducing stuff.
Yes. I saw that and thought the exact same thing. Worse, Joe responds like a toddler. And the way she spoke to the audience was the same way — getting everyone to chant “LIE!” together. Stuff like that is creepy on so many levels!
Also, there is video that shows Trump walking off the stage while Jill is beginning her caretaking of Joe at the podium. He walks off alone, slowly but confidently, while Joe and Jill go down the to moderators for a little love fest.
Yes, molto vomitoso! Jill in that merciless and hideous “VOTE” dress and her school teacher prattling was over the top. Daniel, change that headline to read The Dems can’t make Biden leave if Jill won’t go.

Here is my take on the “new – to be announced” democrat 2024 presidential ticket.
Hillary still has visions of grandeur and firmly believes in her vast importance for herself.
Biden is going to croak or withdraw as the democrat presidential candidate by the time their convention rolls around.
The two leading dem candidates will be proclaimed as Hillary and Newsom. Harris is going nowhere.
All the woke leftist media excitement and brain washing hoopla will be arranged choreographed and focused on Hillary as the most experienced person in the history of America for the presidency.
Newsom will be her VP young shining rising star of the depraved psychopathic berserk left of the future.
And so, the dem presidential ticket will be Hillary as president and Newsom as vice president.
Such a dem presidential ticket will create a lot of lunatic excitement among the dems and the media, as well as motivating the suburban females and the woke leftist yoots to work hard for the dem ticket, since Newsom will have been effectively anointed as the dem presidential candidate for 2028, with eight years ahead of him.
This seems to me what Hillary and Bill and Obama too are scheming for November 2024.

How exactly does K. Harris inherit Joe’s delegates if he goes? How is that determined? Aren’t the delegates free to support whoever they want after he drops out? (if he does)
This brings up that age old question – Were they LYING THEN or ARE they LYING NOW about Joe”s ability to PERFORM the duties of the MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE WORLD? I’ve never thought that he was capable! But NOW the DEMOcrats have to make the most of their situation – a white male cadaver and a somewhat black female conniver!! And just WHO were the 33% who thought Joe won? I’d like some names and numbers so I could sell some of the absolute JUNK I have laying about!
They are nearly always lying, but there’s a limit to even lying, especially when you have emptied totally the well of credibility and lying will no longer help in the short-term. If they really want him out against his and his family’s will, there might be a “last resort” approach:

Present two options:
Option 1–drop out voluntarily, and continue to receive all our protection against subpoenas and investigations that we have provided so far, even into the next administration.
Option 2–stay in, without that same protection for you and your family.
Option 1 protects both parties.
Option 2 may result in damage to both parties, but over time might at least help to repair their party’s credibility.
That’s the advantage of having experience with Dementia patients. The Dems didn’t see this coming, not understanding Dementia.
Daniel said “a rapid concerted effort” is required for the Dems to rid themselves of Biden. Since he wrote that, the NY Times has done its part by calling for his withdrawal. It’s all moving very fast!
I suspect the only thing Biden is waiting for, are assurances that his bribe taking criminal enteprise will not be exposed and his family members will not end in jail.
If gets those assurances from the deep state (DOJ, FBI, CIA and the Judicial branch crooks) — he will be out in a second.
The larger problem, of course, seeing all this unrolled in front of us — is that we see
a) SCOTUS is not a defender of Constitution (allowing constitutional decline through the ‘lack of standing’ fake jurisprudence)
b) The allowance for Judicial discretion and for Prosecutorial discretion (without working independent checks) — is a main methodology for the selective-outrage judicial system.
Which means that the deep state metastasis into all public institutions cannot be stopped. That, in turn, means that the institutions cannot be trusted. Accelerating the decay.
Trump allowed us to see all this clearly. But the problem is — he will not be able to fix it.
So there is no way out of this, the Constitutional republic is too decayed by this time, to survive, unfortunately.
