These are actual headlines that tell you everything you need to know.
Conservatives defend DeSantis after story claims he used to pronounce Thai like ‘thigh’ to test dates – The Independent
Ron DeSantis, who denounced Disney, actually got married there – Washington Post
These are not very good hit pieces. They’re not very good ‘anything’.
It’s become a running joke that the media refused to dig into Obama’s background, but would trace his opponents back to their high school days. The media and its party built an entire case against a Supreme Court nominee around his high school years. They’re trying to do the same thing with DeSantis, but the things they’re coming up with are just embarrassingly bad.
These are the actual opening paragraphs of the Washington Post article
Before he attacked the company, DeSantis — who is up for reelection next week — was a groom walking down the aisle in a Disney wedding. He and his wife, Jill Casey Black, a former anchor at Jacksonville news station WJXT who goes by Casey, wed at Walt Disney World on Sept. 26, 2009.
Neither the governor’s office nor his campaign responded to questions about the wedding. Disney did not respond to a request for comment.
Insider first reported the wedding location on Friday, based on accounts from three unnamed people; the publication said 150 people attended. The New York Times reported early last month that the couple’s marriage license listed the location as Lake Buena Vista, a Central Florida city controlled by Disney. The Washington Post has also obtained the marriage license.
Journalism.
Nobody involved stopped to ask themselves what the point of any of this is and what it’s supposed to accomplish.
The media got into this mode with Trump. Who can forget CNN’s “Trump gets 2 scoops of ice cream, everyone else gets 1”? But it worked with Trump, partly because he was a major celebrity figure and just about any story about a celebrity ‘works’ in a way that it doesn’t about non-celebs.
Using the same toolbox against DeSantis just comes off as awkward.
There was a sizable chunk of the media base that were obsessed with Trump and willing to eat up any hit piece against him, no matter how groundless, baseless or pointless it might be. I don’t think that demo is there for DeSantis, no matter how often the media compares him to Hitler, and yet the media has gotten used to getting a free ride that it rarely even bothers to ask whether its hit pieces even have a point anymore.
A terrifying throwback to a dead era!
What contemporary American family doesn’t cohabitate till the youngsters can participate in the wedding ceremony as a complete unit?
So, the Florida governor engages in infant participation denial [ planned prepatum!! ] and Elon Musk doesn’t call him out.
Let that sink in.
Well Sid, I’ve tried to get that to sink in but my brain cannot make head or tail of it.
The media made it hard not to support Trump’s reality show because obviously what they were showing was their true feelings for the half of the country that might escape the powers of their persuasion.
For some odd reason Trump generated excitement DeSantis doesn’t. I don’t pretend to understand why. Victor Davis Hanson says its charisma. I’ll take his word for it. The concern was always that Trump was just discovering politics at an advanced age. Maybe that resonated with an electorate that wasn’t paying attention until 5 minutes before midnight? Who knows?
“For some odd reason Trump generated excitement DeSantis doesn’t. I don’t pretend to understand why. Victor Davis Hanson says its charisma.”
Kari Lake has way better charisma than Trump and she’s a take no prisoners, street brawler, like Trump. And on top of that she has the articulateness that Trump does not. She has style, charisma, and punches back like a street brawler. From what I’ve seen so far, what Mohammed Ali was in the boxing ring, Lake is in the political arena.
I hope to see the day that Lake runs for president of the USA.
Trump had a lot of experience on TV so he had a feel for what the audience liked.
Victor Davis Hanson seems obsessed with his opinion that President Trump is not “polite.” I am surprised that Victor Davis Hanson understands the the concept of charisma, a quality he totally lacks…I mean lacks to a pathological degree.
Victor Davis Hanson may be scholarly, but he wouldn’t have fared well in Queens N.Y. where charisma is abundant and often necessary.
Just think, if things go well, it will have been charisma (not sipping tea with pinky in air and scholarly demeanors) that saved this nation and its good people.
.
Queens, NY? Isn’t that where that charming, horse-faced, bartender, got elected to Congress?
Donkey faced 😉
I read this morning that Trump is now taking shots at DeSantis, and I was very disappointed to see it. He referred to our governor as “Ron DeSanctimonious”. Ron DeSantis has kept us safe, free, and prosperous during the insane scamdemic, worked to stop the perverts from grooming and sexualizing our children in the schools, and clean up the elections here, and he is my hero. We Christian conservatives love him and for Trump to turn on him like this is shameful in the extreme to us. Turning on your own is what the other side, the Dems (Marxists) do, it’s NOT what we do! I know that the Left and the media has been trying to drive a wedge between Trump and DeSantis all along, and now it looks as though Trump has done it for them. I voted for him twice, I will not do so again. Shame on him!
Typical of Trump. He has a knack for shooting his mouth off and ends up shooting himself in the foot. There have been so many missed and ruined opportunities where he could have said the right thing, the right way, at the right moment, devastating his opponents, but he makes hash of it with his fumbling inarticulateness. Much like, not all there, Kanye West.
Sadly, Trump–and his big mouth–has been calling DeSantis for some time. Now he’s stepping it up.
If I have to vote for Trump, for third time, I will. However, I will vote for De Santis in the primary election.
It’s okay to not be prepared to be President upon entering office, but to adjust. Thats happened in US history. Trump didn’t grow and he still hasn’t.
They don’t “get” DeSantis. I don’t want to point out what they are missing, for fear of giving them ideas.
