Why pick the first American Pope now? Robert Prevost was made Pope Leo XIV as a counterweight to President Trump.
There’s been little ambiguity about the new pope’s politics and less about the overall agenda.
Pope Francis had all but rigged the process to assure another radical successor.
President Trump’s return represents an ongoing institutional crisis. The ideological battleground is going to be the border and Prevost has been chosen to lead the response in the largest sense possible.
Choosing an American Pope is supposed to raise the stakes and elevate a leader with the stature to rally opposition to Trump and more specifically to his immigration policies by invoking the familiar tropes about the need for welcoming in every single migrant.
That’s what this is about.
This is less about the long-term future and more about the next four years.
The Pope is the figure head leader of my Catholic Church but it’s the local pastors who guide the people..
All politics is local so goes our parishes. That’s the strength of the Catholic Church not the Vatican.
Joel Osteen is the pope you Catholics need if you hope to ever come close to being true Americans.
Prosperity theology is a contradiction in terms but it’s better than Liberation theology.
Americans were right in 1960 to fear a Catholic in the White House.
You are degenerating quickly into full blown bitter insanity. The sad truth is you will never get what you want. Sucks to be you.
But hey, a new pope the perfect opportunity to bash Christians on a level you never could have achieved. That is the kind of small minded, petty little man you are.
That’s way out in left field.
Popes are generally forever.
Pres. Trump has less than 4 years left.
I wouldn’t call the average life span of a pope forever. I’d estimate the the average to be between 10 and 20 years Whatever it is there really ought to be term limits now that the conclave is electing leftist lunatics.
Yet TDS is forever.
That’s what makes it so wild, the Vatican obviously did pick its’ first American Pope primarily as a counter to a second term US president. Trump is encouraging European Christians tired of the invasion, so it’s not just America this is aimed at, either.
The speed with which the conclave reached agreement alone said a lot to anyone that’s been around more than half a century. Francis, the first communist, non-Catholic Pope, rigged it well. The Vatican has been thoroughly infiltrated by communists, like the Episcopalians, and is behaving predictably. The local, low level priests, and a few Bishops, are the only Christians in the church now.
Joel Osteen? Spawn of Satan? Right. You keep being you, though.
Would you please state what Kennedy did while in office, inspired by his Catholicism, that was bad for liberty?
I admit I never heard of “prosperity theology” before and admit doing a (very) little research on it after reading your post. I would appreciate it if you would state why it is a contradiction in terms.
I teach students that the assertion “putting profits before people” is often just laying false claim to the higher moral ground. People who do not recognize how the profit motive benefits humankind need to learn some basic economics. I am not poorer because Gates, Musk, and Zuckerberg are wealthier.
.
“Serve the masses, live with the classes.”
Uh Oh. Trouble in paradise?
Guess your new main squeeze doesn’t like being challenged by you either. A faux intellectual version of Roman Holiday.
Another predictable. lame gay joke. C’mon Intrepid, tell us about your marriage. 45 years for me. (Any court orders support payments like for your own buddy? ) Have you looked into my criminal record? Like your buddy, is your life game plan not to make more money just so your ex doesn’t get any. Tell us what you think about that plan.
Have you watched the Tea Party speech I gave yet? Any guess who was the emcee at another Tea Party in Knoxville featuring politician Joe Walsh. You got nothin’!
It think his hubby has a bigger dick than him and he’s jealous,
If that is the case why was RSBN’S Fr Frank Pravone stripped of his position, parish and collar? Or however the hell it works with Catholic church mafia.
All who embrace the support of illegals can be charged under 8 USC 1324, that includes the clergy, judges, congressmen, senators, governors, employers , just about anyone. It is past time for the Trump Administration to start using that law.
Rubbish
this article is correct, get help.
Religion is more dangerous than Marxism for America because Marxism is simply religion masquerading as secular science.
The socialists are preparing the ground for a return to theocracy.
Blah Blah Blah. “The socialists are preparing the ground for a return to theocracy.”
In what universe has this ever happened you dimwit pod person?
You are sounding more and more desperate. I’m certainly enjoying watching you squirm.
By “religion,” you mean Christianity, right? Religion is a man-made institution, so you cannot loop Christianity into that category. Understandably, particular sects of Catholicism can indeed constitute a religion and, in many cases, are not actually Christian for reasons I will not outline here (because that is not the point of this comment). However, to say that Christianity is actually worse than Marxism is not only deeply insulting, it is factually incorrect.
How do I know this?
Let’s look at what the Bible says. John 3:16–17 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not sent his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
Now, let’s look at what Marxism says. First of all, Karl Marx was a eugenicist, which means he favored genetic cleansing to rid the world of perceived “misfits,” or those unfit to live in society with everyone else. What did Karl Marx say about such a thing? I quote, “As for slavery, there is no need for me to speak of its bad aspects. The only thing requiring explanation is the good side of slavery.” Read that slowly – THE GOOD SIDE OF SLAVERY. What else could you expect from someone that is perfectly okay with eliminating and/or oppressing society’s perceived misfits?
What is the rotten fruit of such ideas we have seen in history past? The Holocaust. Forced sterilization of African-Americans in the United States. Locking mentally ill individuals in mental hospitals to languish behind bars alone and ostracized from society. What about today? Oppression of peoples under a single dictator in eastern countries like China. Unfettered access to abortion and creating “designer babies” based on eliminating genetic flaws and denying babies with those genetic flaws the right to life. Marxism is the bedrock for deadly ideas like socialism, which breeds communism.
Now, tell me exactly how God sending His Son to die on our behalf in order that He might save the world and bring everlasting life is worse than torturing, disposing of, and oppressing non-designer people under a dictatorship? I know nothing about this pope, nor am I saying he’s a Christian, but I will not hesitate to point out the heavy implications from comparing a relationship with the Lord God meant to bring eternal life to a death cult. You know absolutely nothing about that of which you speak.
Religion is deadheading to the antichrist – Religion puts up a virtual firewall to G-D Almighty to the parishioners. Parishioners have to find the portal to reach our Creator Father and all HE has for us.
I don’t ascribe to religion, I have no firewall between me YHVH, HIS Holy Spirit, and of course my Messiah and Savior Yeshua Lord Jesus Christ – That works for me – religion is absolutely limiting and depressing.
However, if religion gives someone comfort, more power to them and G-D bless them –
I want the full thrust of YHVH’S Holy Spirit and of course Lord Jesus Christ – It wasn’t religion that made this Hebrew born man call on God and Jesus if YOU are real, prove it to me and no matter what show me the truth – I was alone and that was 4 decades ago to which THEY have more than proved THEIR reality and the truth or how would I know to lay it on you with confidence? I don’t care if anyone doubts – they are afraid to ask the very same question! Thus they live in willful ignorance. And religion has them bound! Even atheists have their religion of atheism which is binding and limiting delusion
You are closer to God’s Truth than you may realize. Jesus’ teachings consistently challenged the outward forms of religion and the worldly pursuit of power, calling instead for a radical inward transformation—a heart fully surrendered to God. When He said, “You cannot serve both God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24), He was getting to the root of human dividedness. He wasn’t interested in part-time allegiance or compartmentalized faith; He was calling for undivided devotion. The modern expression emphasis is often placed on appearance—what church you attend and how “Christian” someone looks or acts in public. Jesus’ Teaching was focused on the heart. In Matthew 23, He called out religious leaders for cleaning the outside of the cup while the inside was full of greed and self-indulgence. Real transformation starts within. .It’s common to try and balance faith with comfort, consumerism, nationalism, or personal ambition. “No one can serve two masters” (Matthew 6:24). He demands our full heart. Anything that competes with God—be it money, ego, the church you attend or politics—becomes an idol. Jesus wasn’t building a religion—He was inviting people into a way of life. That way challenges every system, including the ones we might unknowingly support. His followers are called to live as salt and light—not to dominate, but to quietly and powerfully reflect God’s character in a dark world.
It’s all about the money. Refugees and mass migration (and hence war) are a cash cow for the Catholic Church.
yep
follow the money as has been shown by these Judges trying to interfere with the President.
Liberal woke socialista “faith” based programs use taxpayers money to aid the Democratic Party’s invasion of America.
Catholics amongst them.
should be treated liek the enemy combatants they are.
Absolutely. The Church makes billions from bringing in illegals. Many religious voters voted for Trump. They think this will change things.
the NGOs using Catholic in their names are no more Catholics than the Muslim Brotherhood is Catholic
Catholicism has always been about the money. Wasn’t it the Catholic Church that had pay for forgiveness.( indulgencies). As a Jew I’ve never been I pressed with the religion. It has had too much in common with Muslims. Inquisition, stealing artifacts, and a pedo problem is just the beginning. Those Templars were great guys too. I lived in a Catholic town and remember my neighborhood talking about the nuns and being hit with rulers or paddles if they didn’t obey.
Typical Catholic bashing that goes back for thousands of years don’t even wanna respond to malarkey individual feelings very common low-grade could find out in any shot and beer joint in America anti-religion anti-Catholic only Catholics are concerned about money … totally clueless
I left the catholic church 45+ years ago.. I saw it as a left wing banking system nothing more. Then they went full homosexual… no thanks.
I’m not sure I agree, David. The “leaders” before the conclave were not necessarily popular (Parolin), and the group as a whole was not well acquainted. Prevost may well have been the best known (because of his work with the Bishops). A case of a basically good guy, and familiarity..
I was hoping for one of the black cardinals from the more conservative movement in Africa. Now that would have been TRUE diversity.
Pres Trump is a religious man. Why would a woke pope need to fight him? That is unless the Catholic church is part of the deep state corruption or the massive child trafficking going on.
You had to figure the Satanic Vatican would select another Imposter like the rest of them all
Another Pope who will see nothing but darkness when he dies.

You’re 100% correct. It’s so obvious. This is the anti-Trump Pope. He was selected to oppose Trump the giant.
And they picked an old guy because they figure he will die soon. They think they can get another one after Trump is gone in four years.
I see we have a dick licker here. How does it taste? Like sausage?
Let the Vatican open its doors to a flood of “migrants” and feed them, clothe them, etc. all the while applying the text of Matthew 25 for it all. Also, tear down that massive wall around the Vatican grounds and de-commission all the armed Michelangelo-designed guards while they are at it. C’mon, papa! Lead by example, or shut up.
What? What in, what?
I’m not sure this analysis is correct about the motivations of the Cardinals who elected this pope. However, assuming that it is true, I think a more reasonable interpretation is that it is a natural reaction to Trump’s reassertion of American interests on the world stage.
Trump is a deal maker. Since his inauguration, a parade of world leaders has showed up at the White House to negotiate new deals with the US. From this perspective, it makes sense that the head of the Catholic church would likewise be interested in coming to the White House to negotiate with the American president.
With the exception of the issue of immigration, the church has no real differences with the president. He may talk about climate but the reality is that man has no control over nature and has only the ability to mitigate its sometimes harmful impacts. On the cultural issues that are riling American politics, the church by its very nature tends to be conservative. Other than being a diehard White Soc fan, I can’t see anything particularly troubling about him.
Your’re full of shit. Go take a shower.
Obviously a Sox fan.
I think he’s a dox fan, too.
Leo is for open borders….then lets see him tear down the wall around the Vatican and take in the migrants, criminals and other illegals..
SHOW US BY EXAMPLE, Leo….😏
The new Pope is from Chicago – I wonder if dead Cardinals voted for him. He also spent years in Peru where they love liberation theology. This guy is big on shilling for illegal immigration. I hope I am wrong about him but I suspect he will be like his predecessor.
Love Yu, daniel, but are you a Catholic Christian? If not, refrain from comment in this realm.
Jesuits and CIA , ck it out!!
Daniel is 100% right on. According to Real American Voice reporting and research, this new Pope is pro- open borders, pro climate change agenda, and he will go along with covering up child SA in the Catholic church. Probably another marxist Pope just like the last one.
And, according to the Bible in Matthew 16, Peter was not the first Pope, Peter was never called a Saint, the Catholic church and Peter are not the rock for which the church is to be built on (Jesus is) and there are scriptures in the old and new testament showing that God wants borders and individual sovereignty for each nation to protect against mass migration. The Pope should try reading his own Bible rather than Catholic Church dogma.
(and don’t get me started on this new Pope being an American just because he was born here – as far as I’m concerned, this Pope abandoned his homeland when he became a citizen of Peru. Think about that, would any of you want to become a citizen of a third world country? This Pope could have been a missionary in Peru without becoming a Peruvian -but I think he did that just to easily climb up the Catholic totem pole).
But, you have to hand it to the commie dems – they have no leadership today, so who better to attack Trump than the new Pope – just let the dems twist the Pope’s words to try to prove that Trump is wrong on all issues.
I have no idea what the motivation was, but he’s already out there talking about how mass migration is a huge problem while calling for finding a way to deal with it that treats people with respect. There’s not much need to read between those lines to get the message. I’m guessing when he’s referring to the people who deserve respect, he’s not talking about the citizens of countries that are being invaded.
Just now reading that apparently Daniel’s suspicion is widespread enough that Archbishop Dolan felt it necesarry to go out of his way to comment that any of the Cardinals who voted would even think of Leo as a “counterweight to any one person” referring to Trump. Thou doth protest too much? I suppose we will soon find out.
The world’s cardinals have chosen a pope from South America twice in a row. South America is haemorrhaging Catholics. They see it as a hotspot.
The fact that he was born in the US is not actually relevant. South America is the problem, from their perspective, not North America.
Interesting back-n-forth in the comments here on belief systems.
It appears that only one person knows the difference between religion and faith.
Jesu said”, I AM the (ONLY) Way, the (only) Truth, and the (only) Life! not a pope or ANY “religion” Faith in Jesus is what matters!
Daniel, interesting observation and as an orthodox Catholic vs a heterodox one, I pray and hope you are wrong, as I’m sure you do as well being an “elder brother in the faith.” (SJPII)
But one thing many non-Catholics and Catholics do not know is that the Pope is infallible on moral issues only when he is obedient to the teachings of the Ordinary Magisterium on issues like abortion, homosexuality, euthanasia, stem cell research, cloning, etc. As Catholics we too are bound by the teachings of the Ordinary Magisterium and Pope when he is in accordance with Magisterial teachings.
Furthermore, Catholics are free to disagree with the Pope on “ Prudential “ matters like immigration, Just War, environment, death penalty, social justice, etc.
We Catholics need to better understand that Saint Peter was the rock upon which the Holy Spirit would build and sustain His church for 2,000 years, because when Peter responded to Christ that, He was the Son of the living God; Christ replied, you would not know this if my Father in heaven had not revealed this to you.
Which also accounts for Chesterton’s keen observation, “that the Catholic Church is the only thing which saves a man from the degrading slavery of being a child of his own age.”
To learn about popes, catholicism and the vatican, one should read A Woman Rides The Beast by Dave Hunt.
This is way off base for a usually spot-on Greenfield; perhaps he’s delving into traditions and histories he’s entirely unfamiliar with?
Daniel is at least falling for the trap of trying to make Church politics conform to the left-right, conservative-liberal dichotomy of American politics; it doesn’t work. Not at all.
Moreover, Daniel’s thoughts here are extremely U.S-centric; the college of cardinals does not think about Americans and American politics in the same hyper-focused way that we all do. Watch the interview with the American Cardinals from the other day, the U.S media keeps trying to coax them into making it about Trump, but they have no interest in doing so because Trump had nothing to do with it.
Further, Daniel says that this decision was about the next four years, not the future….that’s psychotic. The cardinals are really so concerned about ONE man in temporal power who will be in place for the next 3.5 years and then be gone forever, that they made a 2 to 3 DECADE leadership decision on that single factor???
Here’s what it comes down to: I believe the cardinals acted in good faith, and were guided by the Holy Spirit, I believe that because I am a Catholic.
Daniel does not believe that the cardinals acted in good faith, AND he doesn’t believe they were guided by the Holy Spirit…and moreover, Daniel doesn’t believe in the authority and doctrine of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church…so it doesn’t matter to Daniel… so maybe Daniel should just sit this one out?
