There’s been a great deal of attention paid to Black and Latino votes, not as much to Asians, even though they’re a growing demographic.
The latest HarrisX poll shows Trump’s approval hitting 49% to 51%. That’s big. (Polls obviously undercount Republican support, so even seeing them nudged toward positive territory with Trump is big news.)
Interestingly, also, his approval rating is at 59% to 41% among white respondents, 17% to 83% among black respondents, 29% to 71% among Hispanics, and 49% to 51% among Asians.
That’s striking because Asians here look like an outlier providing the same split for Trump as the national average.
It also suggests that these voters are being moved by the economy.
These numbers may be even better than they look because they’re actually “Asian origin” which would potentially include Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, etc… Subtract that and the numbers could be a good deal better than breaking even.
