The Confederacy is long since dead. It poses a threat to no one. The dominant racist hate groups today, both white and black, have little to do with it.
There might be a right name to rename Fort Hood, but doing it right now is a gesture of appeasement to racist black nationalist hate groups like Black Lives Matter that will accomplish nothing. Renaming Fort Hood will not end the riots or the insane racist demands. Instead it’s a virtue signaling gesture by elements of the political establishment meant to make them look good. And it will fail at that.
The media is not about to be satisfied with small gestures. Not when it’s already coming for Mount Rushmore and the Star-Spangled Banner.
That’s why President Trump is right to oppose the appeasement by GOP senators and elements of the military leadership.
After weeks of terrorizing the country and attacking statues of everyone from Columbus to Washington, the last thing that we should be doing is sending a message of appeasement to the racist and radical thugs behind the violence.
