Yes, Pope Leo mentioned that, right? I can never remember exactly what historic and historical figures said.
That very-very “thin veneer of civilization” is protected by an even thinner blue line of local law enforcement.
Just as Mr. Hanson’s legendary politeness and tone of civility have won him millions of loyal students across the world, I wonder what it’s going to take for VDH to actually snap and start pounding on his electronic lectern in righteous outrage.
Or will history record this man of “decency” and Puritan work ethic (as most Americans strive to be) sitting behind his laptop in row 15, of this slow-motion plane crash of Western Civilization, hoping that future generations will speak of his decorum and stoicism in the face of unrestricted warfare?
And, will he also be proven correct that these Jacobins of nihilism will destroy his legacy of pedagogy as well?

In a free fall with a non-existent safety net. In characteristic fashion VDH delivers his message that the prognosis for America’s survival is bleak. That has been his message for quite some time now. It would be out of character for Hanson to display outrage and even were he to do so, would it make any difference? He knows it would not and so he does not. It’s not his legacy he’s worried about, it’s the fate of the nation
and the lessons of history that should not be ignored.
One reason for the success of the Marxist takeover is the public school takeover about 50 years ago. A high ranking school man took his honeymoon in Stalinist Russia, and loved their school. Lenin:”Give me the youth of a country for 4 years and I’ll change the world.”
The Teachers’ Union and National Education Association (who give their dues to the Democrat Party) have had full control of public schools for years, teaching their “Woke” Marxist theories. These students have passed through colleges and now teach there and go on to jobs in industry (CEOs and board memberships.) We just cared about sports accomplishments.
VDH “pounding the lectern” might gratify your feelings, but you’re not the person we need to win over. We need to win over the 20% in the squishy middle, and they are persuaded more by VDH’s reasoned tone than by yelling.
Gotta get government spending under control, too.

You get the feeling that the major parties decide beforehand what they will pretend to fight over (eg abortion, transgenderism), to distract us, while they destroy us.
The border won’t close and nobody’s going back. We will never resolve the $33 trillion in debt or the mega-trillions in unfunded liabilities We will continue to sow terror and insanity globally.

VDH is right of course, and we’ve seen this coming for several a decades as David’ Horowitz, Pat Buchanan, Mark Levin, and others have clearly identified the “enemy” and revealed their plans, the origin of which is summarized by Robert Bork”s 1996 prescient book: “Slouching Towards Gomorrah”, which lays-out in detail all the principal actors and their specific role in creating today”s Left.
Yet, with the exception of Trump, we have been unable to push back successfully. Shame on us.
It’s therefore no surprise that we are at the tipping point, and perhaps past it and in steep decline into chaos. I suspect whoever wins in November won’t change the revolution and civil war which is inevitable.

Nations have been warned many times about their actions , corruption, genocide, lawlessness, and their secular socieities. which they thrive on. Those socieities that champion communism and deny the rights, freedoms, and laws that institute a civil society can expect the loss of their nation. A Godless society is one that isn’t blessed any more. Our rights and blessings come from God, not the government.

Great commentary by Hanson. It hurts to hear even ten minutes of so much truth, but it condenses our concerns. Tomorrow I will go to Trump’s trial in Manhattan. I don’t know if I’ll actually be able to get into the courtroom. Where are the pro-civilization leaders who are there to protest this miscarriage of justice in NYC? It’s definitely an attack on the USA, not just on Trump. Suddenly all these cases against Trump??!!….. Doesn’t that make more people wonder?…. Guess not.

Meanwhile, the left badmouth President Putin and Russia? They call it a corrupt dictatorship? Yes, it has a strong ruler who doesn’t like opposition – which is what historically Russians have had for centuries, and what most of them still today want!
Give me a break! Russians are not racked by self-hatred. They are patriotic and believe in their civilization and overwhelmingly, in traditional values, not woke bullshit. Russia is not imploding. It has very largely reembraced Christianity. Its government is pursuing the country’s national interests – which America under the Democrats is NOT.
Unless Trump is declared the winner of the 2024 election, America is finished.
The snakes in public office at every level of our government are nothing but an accurate reflection of the immoral people that elect them.. Or…..they may be snakes all by themselves elected and re-elected over and over., against the will of the people.
