To get the proper context for this story, let’s go back to a Biden scandal from a decade ago.
The Orlando Sentinel reporter was ushered into the closet inside wealthy property developer Alan Ginsburg’s Winter Park mansion, after being told that Joe Biden and Senator Bill Nelson had not yet arrived.
He was told he could only come out when the politicians were ready to give their speeches.
Powers told The Drudge Report: ‘When I’d stick my head out, they’d say, “Not yet. We’ll let you know when you can come out.”’
After 90 minutes he was allowed out to hear Biden and Nelson speak for 35 minutes, before being taken back to the closet for the remainder of the event.
From inside his temporary prison Powers emailed his office from his cell phone: ‘Sounds like a nice party.’
Woodward’s Peril reveals that there’s a “wall” built around Biden.
In turn, a number of Biden aides told the reporters that Chief of Staff Ronald Klain and then-White House advisor Anita Dunn worked to prevent such incidents by keeping him away from “unscripted events or long interviews.”
“They called the effect ‘the wall,’ a cocooning of the president,” they wrote.
The wall isn’t a huge surprise. We’ve repeatedly seen it in action. But the obvious question is what sort of POTUS would tolerate being told when he can answer questions and having his interactions so thoroughly dictated to him?
And that’s the bigger question.
Yes, Biden has always been an unhinged jerk prone to doing or saying horrible things. But no one had been able to ride herd on him before. That they’re able to do it now really speaks to his mental state.
