[](/sites/default/files/uploads/2014/04/large_help-wanted-ad.jpg)While Israel is the only liberal democracy in the Middle East, a country which offers freedom of religion, the media and more, as well as award-winning education, top-notch healthcare and more, too often Israel is portrayed negatively in the media. One of the reasons the Arabs win in the media is they work extensively at public relations – they spend money and engage in extensive efforts to spin media.
As CEO of a NY PR Firm, we regularly review the help wanted pages – and recently came across the following jobs:
The PLO Delegation to the United States is hiring a Public Affairs Officer. As the help wanted ad says here, “The Public Affairs Officer plays a vital role at the General Delegation of the PLO to the US, based in Washington, D.C. The Public Affairs Officer is primarily responsible for maintaining the Delegation’s relationships with civil society organizations in the US – including think tanks, NGOs, universities, minority groups, and religious groups – as well as expanding the Delegation’s network of alliances and contacts.” (Subtext should read: One need not be skittish about defending an organization committed to terrorism – including against America at times.)
Similarly, there is an opening for a Media Relations officer for the PLO Delegation whose “responsibilities include developing a media strategy to respond to current coverage of the Palestinian issue, as well as developing an initiative for new media coverage and contacts.” Also described as a responsibility: “Building and improving relationships with media outlets in order to expand the delegation’s outreach and messaging.” I, which can be found here) – although undoubtedly the PLO has long had countless media masters.
The PLO has a long history of spending millions on propaganda across the world – from purchasing media outlets to pressuring Israel in a variety of mechanisms. Their success in this arena has long been instrumental in helping to harm the State of Israel. Clearly, that history continues.
If it’s a job in the Middle East that interests you, look no further than the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) –an agency established by the General Assembly in 1949, which was created to help Palestinian Arab refugees. (No mention of the Jewish refugees who were driven out of countless Arab nations in the region.)
UNWRA is currently seeking someone to work in the “Chief Donor Relations Division.” Requirements cited in the job description include: “Establish and nurture close relationships with UNRWA’s donor governments and institutions” and “…help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight.” _(It is likely that no one will question if terrorists want to donate money to help with this just cause.)._ Further, this “impartial” organization will not hire Jews – because travel is required throughout the Middle East, your safety would be in serious danger. The UN at work in seek of “peace.”
The last PR job I will present is that the Palestine Information and Communications Technology Incubator (PICTI), together with Oxfam, are implementing the “Economic Recovery in the Gaza Strip” project funded by DANIDA. DANIDA – the Danish International Development Agency – is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark – who is funding a process to help create entrepreneurial businesses in Gaza. More can be read about that here – although I didn’t see any jobs helping to fund Israeli technology businesses, nor did I find a program from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark that encouraged Gazans to stop firing missiles at Israel – which would undoubtedly assist their economy. Resumés are kindly requested to be delivered by hand to the organization’s Gaza Office. Jews stay away.
I am writing this as a public service announcement to satisfy those who clamor for diversity in the workplace, to further educate the larger public about public relations job opportunities. Of course, if any Western foreign intelligence agency was to notice it and place people in these positions, that could also be viewed as a public service.
