This is the same old, “Your speech is violence, their violence is speech” standard in which questioning whether burning down cities is a good idea is worse than the BLM riots burning down cities.
You may think this comes from Jennifer Rubin, Greg Sargent, Margaret Sullivan, or one of the Washington Post’s more embarrassing party shills, but nope, this is straight from the Amazon paper’s official editorial board. Challenging a candidate based on their record is worse than accusing them of rape.
Opinion: Republicans boast they have not pulled a Kavanaugh. In fact, they’ve treated Jackson worse. – Washington Post
That’s an opinion all right. It’s a bizarre and dishonest one, but sure it’s an opinion. Nothing else in that sentence is true.
During the hearings, Republicans such as Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.) have congratulated themselves for declining to treat Judge Jackson the way Democrats handled the nomination of Brett M. Kavanaugh. In fact, by the most relevant measures, Mr. Graham and a handful of other Judiciary Committee Republicans have handled themselves worse.
I think we’re all excited to know how challenging a nominee based on her record is worse than rape.
A woman credibly accused Mr. Kavanaugh of sexual assault. Democrats rightly asked the committee to investigate. After a superficial FBI review, Republicans pressed forward his nomination. In the end, it was Mr. Kavanaugh who behaved intemperately, personally attacking Democratic senators and revealing partisan instincts that raised questions about his commitment to impartiality.
Democrats “rightly” dug up a completely non-credible nutjob (one of a series of decreasing credibility) to accuse Justice Kavanaugh of things in high school.
Let me say that one again… high school.
Just imagine if Senator Graham tried to dig into what Ketanji Brown Jackson was doing in high school. Nah. They’re asking her about her work on the U.S. Sentencing Commission and a speech praising the godfather of critical race theory that she gave in 2020. The Republicans should have just followed the WaPo standard and accused her of raping someone in high school and then working for the Russians.
Here’s what the media was doing to Kavanaugh? The Post played a key role in pushing the smear campaign. Now it’s up on its tainted high horse.
What should Republicans have been doing with Jackson?
“Unfortunately, their colleagues’ antics distracted from their more productive questioning, and from what should have been the order of the day: recognizing the historic nomination of the first Black woman to sit on the Supreme Court “
Republicans should have shut up and praised Biden for… choosing a black woman. Anything else is worse than rape.
