Pro-Palestinian and antisemitic activists in Washington State have added an amendment to that state’s Holocaust Education Bill, the so-called “Hamas Amendment,” that requires it to include the study of what the Palestinians have supposedly suffered as victims of their own Holocaust, carried out by the “genocidal” Israelis: “Washington Democrats slap surprise ‘Hamas amendment’ on Holocaust education bill,” by Ari Hoffman, Post Millennial, February 13, 2024:
…After the bill came out of committee with unanimous approval, Seattle Democratic Rep. Emily Alvarado, in a move attempting to pacify her far-left base, slapped what legislators have dubbed the “Hamas amendment” on the legislation that would open the door for the Holocaust curriculum to include the false Hamas narrative in an attempt to offset addressing pro-Israel “bias” in the material.
Alvarado’s amendment added that the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction must work with organizations with “expertise in teaching lessons on genocide and crimes against humanity in different regions of the world and at various points in history, particularly including diasporic communities with lived experiences of surviving, being made refugee by, or otherwise being directly impacted by genocide,” in an effort to include Palestinians.
It’s obvious what Alvarado had in mind. She wanted to please her far-left base, all those “From the river to the sea/Palestine will be free” shouters, who will not rest as long as Israel exists and the Palestinians have not yet destroyed the tiny Jewish state and replaced it with a twenty-third Arab one. The “diasporic community with lived experiences of surviving, being made refugee [sic] by, or otherwise being directly impacted by genocide” is clearly meant by Alvarado to refer to the “Palestinians,” a “diasporic community” spread out across the Middle East, and found not just in Gaza, Israel, and the West Bank, but also still cooped up in UNRWA-run refugee camps in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. As noted above, there has been no ”genocide” in Gaza. Nor has there been any in Israel within the 1949 armistice lines. In 1948 there were 156,000 Arabs in Israel, while today there are two million. Finally, in Judea and Samaria (a/k/a the West Bank), the Palestinian population has gone from 900,000 in 1967, when Israel took it over, to 3 million today, a more than tripling of the population. Genocide? What genocide?
Alvarado claimed on the House floor, when she introduced the surprise amendment without informing the Republican author of the bill, that it was being brought forward to make the proposed Holocaust education more “inclusive” and “accountable.”
Of course. Let’s make Holocaust education less about the Jews and more about others, today’s true victims. My goodness, the Jews get quite enough sympathy already, don’t they? I mean, just look at all the votes in their favor at the UN. Holocaust education has to be more “inclusive.” And more equitable. And more diverse.
House Democrats realized they wouldn’t have the votes to pass the Holocaust education bill without the amendment due to their radical members and instead of having the antisemitic rhetoric from their caucus be live-streamed, they adjourned for the night.
The next day they came back united on including the “Hamas amendment,” forcing the GOP to either pass the legislation or appear as if they opposed Holocaust education….
The radical, anti-Israel Democrats are now in control of their party in Washington State. They forced the old-style centrist Democrats to accept the “Hamas amendment” to the Holocaust Education bill, and then presented it to the House as the final, non-negotiable, version. It was a take-it-or-leave-it challenge to the Republicans. If the Republicans refused to approve it, because of the “Hamas amendment,” they might be perceived as being against “Holocaust education.” If they accepted it, they would be acquiescing to a sinister bill that, as amended, intends to deny the uniqueness of the Holocaust against the Jews, and to promote “education” about a so-called “Holocaust of the Palestinians” by the Jews, in their role as the new Nazis.
Enough Republicans decided it was better to pass the Holocaust Education bill, despite the “Hamas amendment,” likely hoping that once it became law, individual instructors would have the good sense and decency to concentrate on the Holocaust of the Jews, and to avoid falling into the trap of teaching about a non-existent “Holocaust of the Palestinians.”
What’s next? A Palestinian Yad Vashem, to display the cruelty and brutality of the Israelis, and the millions upon millions of their Palestinian victims? It could be made part of the Museum of the Palestinian People, in Washington, D.C., where government officials, ambassadors, and members of the media will have convenient access. Will American schoolchildren on their visits to the nation’s capital now see not just the White House, the National Gallery, the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian, but soon as well, if CAIR has its way, this new wing of the Museum of the Palestinian People, showing the Palestinian victims of the storm-trooping and genocidal Jews? Anything is possible. Nothing is too preposterous.
Steve says
The Palestinian Arabs leader The Grand Mufti Amin Al Husseini spent WW II in Nazi Germany, making propaganda broadcasts in Arabic while haranguing Hitler and Himmler to murder Jews with greater dispatch. The “moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas” wrote a doctoral thesis denying the Holocaust, and Gaza featured the popular “Hitler 2” clothing emporium, whose owner explained that Palestinians love Hitler because he murdered the most Jews.
Anyone who votes Democratic in Washington State is promoting Holocaust Denial, trivialization and inversion. They are despicable.

Words cannot describe how happy i am to be out of that 3rd-world state led down their steep decline by Inslee these last two years. This actually makes me believe they will probably elect a super radical replacement for the cognitively challenged Jay. The dude is just dumb. Listen to his speak. See if you agree. Just imagine, after a series of dumb Dem mayors and governors, after over a decade of decline, the dumb voters of Seattle elected another radical mayor for Seattle. It is not possible to fix stupid.

The turning point was back when the third “recount” put Queen christine int the Marble Zoo for her first and subsequent terms. This was made possible bwhen three boxes of mail were somehow miraculously “discovered” n a high shelf in a post office near Seattle… many weeks AFTER the ballot pool was closed. Can’t remember the percentage of D votes in those cartons but it was statistically impossible. Our mail in/drop box balloting system is as corrupt as any of the other states, likely worse.
Luz Maria Rodriguez says
Yes, and some were found in the King County Administration Building in the election department. Strangely enough, they were mostly Dem ballots. As you describe, statistically impossible in a true random measurement. Of course, King 5, Komo 4, 13, others all reported it as normal. The queen lost her first count, lost her second count, then like a miracle, those boxes of interesting ballots were somehow found and she won. So the Dems stopped demanding further recounts. Corrupt beyond imagination.

There have been two main ways to deny the Holocaust. One is to say that it did not happen or the numbers are fake. Another is to call everything the Holocaust. The latest preposterous way is new. Jews successfully defending themselves from being mass murdered is a holocaust, with a capital H no less. What is next? The Warsaw ghetto uprising committed a Holocaust on the German armed forces, despite losing? How about Colin Powell being a perpetrator for the PLO failing to assassinate him with planted bombs when he visited Israel as Secretary of State? This ideology targets everyone.

I’m sure Ms. Alvarado isn’t aware of the Arab/Muslim connection to Hitler and the Nazis and their approval, if not direct assistance, in the Holocaust, or how many top Nazi officials involved were given safe haven in Muslim countries in and around current day Israel after their defeat in WWII.
Does she realize that Israel is the true and original diasporic community in that part of the world?
To now say that Palestinians have suffered anything even vaguely approaching what happened in WWII is akin to and as vile as stolen valor.

Sounds like a fun class, but they’d end up excusing me from it, because I’d have to do a lot of corrections and ask a lot of questions they can’t or won’t answer. Their idea of “…organizations with “expertise in teaching lessons on genocide and crimes against humanity…” are the kinds of organizations that openly support the people that actually perpetrate them. We’d also have to get into who was writing the curriculum in that class.

What they would like to do is to say that their sensitivities are really triggered when people who know that they are not Muslim simply refuse to convert, and that if we understood the extent of their suffering we would be nice and say the shahada. However, we are not quite at the stage where they could hope to get away with that, hence all the stuff about Islam as the ultimate victim.

It’s been a big mistake to try and educate on the Holocaust.
I went to different schools in different places, In one school they were maybe a handful of Jews ( like 4). I learned quick most Non-Jewish people just don’t care. In school kids made jokes on on the day(s) of “remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust”…one joke I heard in the hallway was “how do Jews go to heaven? Up a smoke stack!”
. I have engaged those that deny the Holocaust on an intellectual level…the truth is the truth, and we should fight for it…but to expect that most Non-Jews would care is fallacy. In the end, Yahudim ( Jews) just need to concentrate on what we are supposed to be doing, and let Hashem ( God) handle the rest.

Leftist Globalists with degrees were running ‘holocaust museums all over the country and collecting nice salaries doing it. They were so busy connecting to everyone from George Floyd to Burmese human rights violations that the
original intent was quite lost. Know that they are cornered into taking a powerful stand many of these expensive useless institutions have wimped out on Israel.
Tzvi says
The main people who need to learn for the Holocaust are the Children of Israel….but when sees the situation in Israel before Oct. 7, and after until now; one must come to the conclusion that lessons were NOT learned by the Jews ( Yahudim) and other Hebrew tribes*.
My first visit to Yad Vashem was when I was 5…grew up with graphic books on the subject, in the 80’s it was not uncommon to know real survivors ( those who were in camps). My lesson learned is faith in Hashem, and prepare to defend oneself. ( Like Ya’akov Avinu / Jacob our forefather, pray and then prepare for whatever will come.).
Those who hate Jews slander the Talmud, and parrot lies that most Jews and the Modern State of Israel follow the Talmud. Even accusing those who converted to Christianity ( Blinken, Zelinsky) of being Talmudic. The sad fact is if a majority of Jews had been trying to keep to the law in the Talmud few to none of the evil things that came upon us would have ever happened. If the “Modern” state of Israel kept the Talmud everyone would have been allowed to have arms… that includes Bedouin allies who tried to same lives on Oct. 7. If Israel lived by the Talmud no “unilateral disengagement” would have happened…at the absolute worst Gaza would have been on the back burner like Yehuda and Shomron.
Jews ( and all the Hebrew tribes) need to look to Hashem and understand the Arabs are being used to punish us Wearing Yellow stars at the UN is not going to help. My concern is that a second Shoa is on the horizon…and while I have been concerned about that for a long time, it seems to be coming very quickly now.

Toby F. Block says
Arab-initiated violence opposing the creation of a Jewish state in the Jews’ ancestral homeland created two groups of refugees: between 400,000 and 700,000 Arabs fled Palestine and over 1,000,000 Mizrachi Jews were driven out of their homes in the Muslim countries of the Middle East and North Africa. Arab nations refused to take in the Arabs who’d fled or their descendants. Today, 6,000,000 Palestine refugees (99.5% of them born into refugee status) live under the aegis of UNRWA which has not resettled a single “refugee.”
Surely the many Muslim countries, with their vast landholdings and (some with) oil riches should have been able to rehabilitate the Palestine refugees long ago. After all, tiny renascent Israel took in 800,000 of the displaced Mizrachi Jews. Their descendants comprise the majority of Israel’s current Jewish population and their rehabilitation was accomplished while Israel needed to ration food and was recovering from damages inflicted by Arab armies, absorbing Holocaust survivors, and dealing with terrorist incursions from areas illegally occupied by Egypt and Jordan until 1967.
It is clear the “Palestine refugees” have been condemned to perpetual refugee limbo in the hopes that Israel will, one day, be forced to take them in, even though the “refugees” have been taught that killing Jews is a Muslims’ ticket to Heaven. Israel’s absorbing them would lead the way to another Holocaust (for Jews!!)

6 miillion Jews were murdered in Hitler’s holocaust, there have been many assaults on Israel over the centuries. Its not political, (its demonic. ) What took place in the autumn of October 7 was another holocaust in Israel which was an invasion by Hamas., and bears witness of the plans to wipe out Israeli civiliztion. .Hezbollah is trying to distract by firing rockets at Israel, both Jews and Arabs are fleeing . Theres 250,000 rocketys and missiles hidden in Lebanon ready to be used. Regardless of what the Bidejn administration says because they have an upcoming election, and need to solve the conflict, there can be no peace because Hamas and Hezbollah don’t want peace, they want to escalate the war.

You mean teaching about the holocausts of 589–587 BCE when Nebuchadnezzar put Jerusalem under siege, and haled off thousands of Palestinians into captivity? Oh wait! Those were Jews! Or the holocaust when Titus besieged Jerusalem in 70 AD and slaughtered thousands of Palestinians? Oh wait! Those were Jews also! How about the holocaust of Arabs living in Israel in 1948, that Israel told to “Stay and help Israel to become great again, you can become full citizens and serve in the Knesset even” but neighboring Arab states told them “Get out, and when we get rid of all the Jews, you can go back again”, but instead were put into “concentration camps” for “political purposes” to this day, and NOT allowed into ANY Arab country – a “Self imposed” holocaust? THOSE “Palestinians”? Oh wait… they were Hashemite Arabs; “Palestinians” weren’t invented until 1967!

I believe that the headline of this article is inaccurate. The Washington State House Democrats did put an amendment on the proposed legislation as described above, but the bill died in the Washington State Senate according to this Jerusalem Post article:
https://www.jpost.com/american-politics/article-789059
So somebody is wrong here?
Linda says
As of today, March 6, 2024, HB2037 passed in the State House, but the companion bill in the State Senate has not gotten out of committee. This bill has not been passed by the full legislature as of March 6.
The session ends soon, so this is not going to pass.
Peter Ricola says
Thank you for confirming that Linda. I have great respect for David Horowitz and regularly visit this website. This was a bit disconcerting as it is inaccurate and I had forwarded this article onto a group of Pro-Israel Christians and Jews that I am working with in my area. It is important that the author of this article either retract it or clarify that this bill has NOT passed in Washington State. I will be looking for that correction.
