The best part of wokeness is being scolded about manners by wokesters who were committing far worse offenses last week.
Several days later, during an episode of “The View,” Goldberg said that “we’re having to reeducate people” on how to treat women and minorities because “we have gone backwards a good 10, 15 years.”
We’ve gone “backward” by having a black man and half-black woman in the Oval Office? We’ve gone backward in that every other commercial, TV show, and movie features minorities? We’ve gone backward in that Whoopi Goldberg still has a job?
Well, maybe that last one.
“Now, maybe other people don’t feel like that, but I feel like we have to reeducate and retell people. We don’t think rape humor’s funny,” Goldberg said. “We don’t think talking about Native American people in a really despicable way is not funny.”
Whoopi Goldberg has spent more time defending rapists than making bad movies. And that’s saying something.
In 2009, Goldberg defended Roman Polanski, who assaulted an intoxicated 13-year-old girl in 1977.
Goldberg insisted that this assault was not “rape-rape”: “I know it wasn’t rape-rape…We’re a different kind of society, we see things differently … would I want my 14-year-old having sex with somebody? Not necessarily, no.”
Not “necessarily”.
According to testimony, the 13-year-old girl in question was drugged and raped in every possible way while she protested.
Then Whoopi Goldberg went to bat for Bill Cosby, before pivoting to denouncing “rape jokes”. The only joke is that she’s still on television.
But America and Bill Maher absolutely deserve to be lectured about the “black national anthem” and “reeducating people” by a woman who laughed as her white boyfriend launched into a blackface routine.
Whoopi Goldberg scolded critics who attacked her boyfriend Ted Danson for appearing in blackface at a Friars Club roast, saying they should have expected tasteless, vulgar humor.
“We were not trying to be politically correct. We were trying to be funny for ourselves,” she said at a news conference Sunday.Danson wore blackface makeup and huge white lips at Friday’s closed-door roast in New York. The “Cheers” television star also used the word “nigger” several times and joked about his sex life with Goldberg.
Goldberg said she herself had written much of the material for Danson and even found him the makeup artist who applied the blackface.
Please Whoopi, reeducate us some more about what’s not funny.
