It’s the Daily Mail so take it with a grain of salt. But it’s the numbers more than the adultery that interests me.
We know Rep. Ilhan Omar cheated on her husband with her fundraiser from his wife’s filings. And we know that she paid a whole lot of money into his company. But where’s this alleged $250K settlement coming from?
Ilhan Omar’s husband discovered the truth about her torrid affair with her chief fundraiser when he went to her Washington D.C. apartment last spring and found the lovers lounging around in pajamas, DailyMail.com has learned exclusively.
Ahmed Hirsi had long suspected that Omar, 39, was cheating on him with married Tim Mynett but the proof came when he caught the hijab-wearing congresswoman in a state that no Muslim woman would expect to be with a man who is not her husband.
Two separate sources confirmed the account to DailyMail.com, saying that Hirsi was left ‘angry and humiliated’ by the encounter.
‘He suspected she was cheating but she kept telling him he was paranoid,’ one source said.
‘He told her he wanted to move down to D.C. to be with her but she insisted he should stay in Minneapolis with the children. Eventually he surprised her down there and his worst fears were confirmed.
‘It wasn’t that he actually caught them in bed but they were clearly in a romantic situation.’
These sources would presumably be close to Hirsi even though he got a sizable payout.
Omar’s campaign paid Mynett’s fundraising company more than half a million dollars last year, according to newly released Federal Election Commission figures. The amount paid each month increased dramatically after their affair was revealed at the end of July.
In December alone his E Street Company received $87,683, according to the figures reviewed by DailyMail.com.
The sources say the families of Hirsi and Omar hammered out a financial settlement that would give Hirsi tens of thousands of dollars over several years but only if he did not speak publicly about the marriage breakdown.
One source said the figure was as high as $250,000 over six years. Hirsi did not return DailyMail.com requests for comment.
Soon after the agreement was reached last year Hirsi, 40, traded in his old Nissan Maxima for a BMW 528i, which sells for $54,000 new.
Rep. Omar is making $174K. That’s before taxes. She’s got kids and a pricey D.C. apartment. Paying out $40K a year is not easy even with that salary.
$250K over six years would be a sizable payout. Especially if Omar were to lose her seat. Where is that kind of money coming from?
And, again, what role is her massive fundraising and the payouts to her lover’s company, playing in all this?
If Rep. Omar committed to paying her ex, forty thousand a year, she expects to have the money even if she were to lose her next election. Where is that money coming from?
