The GOP generic ballot advantage is only +9? Nancy Pelosi would like to see it go up to +12.
While Americans can’t afford gas or meat, the House Democrats passed this ridiculous bit of black nationalist nonsense.
The CROWN Act, which stands for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair Act, passed along party lines with a vote of 235-189. The bill now heads to the Senate for a vote.
“For too long, Black girls have been discriminated against and criminalized for the hair that grows on our heads and the way we move through and show up in this world,” Rep. Ayanna Pressley said on the House floor Friday.
Fittingly, Rep. Ayanna Pressley is bald.
Dreadlocks protection acts like this have shown up in various superblue cities, and since the House is now AOC territory and the Dem base consists of college campus progressives, stuff like this goes through the legislative pipeline.
This legislation is dumb. It’s also mindless identity politics virtue signaling of the kind that people who salute Wakanada and mainline Ta-Nehisi Coates think ought to be the business of government.
Since this is now also Biden’s base, there’s a statement.
The Administration strongly supports H.R. 2116, the Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair (CROWN) Act of 2022. The bill would prohibit discrimination based on hair texture and protective hairstyles that are commonly associated with a particular race or national origin, including locs, cornrows, braids, twists, Bantu knots, and Afros. The bill would require that discrimination on this basis be treated as if it were race or national origin discrimination under Titles VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Fair Housing Act, and certain other Federal civil rights laws.
Just when you thought misuse of the Civil Rights Act couldn’t get any dumber.
But there’s a method to the madness. Having alienated the part of the electorate that cares about prices and kitchen table issues, all that’s left is to focus on the Black Lives Matter Uber Alles constituency.
Corn-Pop would be proud.
