Like an old horse, “income inequality” is a sturdy old Democrat theme. That and whining about “money in politics”. That means money from billionaires, not, you know, a union deciding to seize money from the parents of disabled kids whose their pet governor forcibly unionized, and donating it en masse to Democrats.
Stealing money from the caretakers of disabled kids to give to Democrats is good progressive values. Darn it.
But, hilariously, a billionaire is trying to actually but the Democrat primary.
Why was Tom Steyer, a lefty eco-billionaire with the charisma of Elizabeth Warren and the rugged good looks of Ellen, on stage at the debate? Because he essentially bought his way in. And now he’s actually buying endorsements.
A top aide to Democratic presidential candidate Tom Steyer in Iowa has privately offered campaign contributions to local politicians in exchange for endorsing his White House bid, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of the conversations.
The overtures from Pat Murphy, a former state House speaker who is serving as a top adviser on Steyer’s Iowa campaign, aren’t illegal — though payments for endorsements would violate campaign finance laws if not disclosed. There’s no evidence that any Iowans accepted the offer or received contributions from Steyer’s campaign as compensation for their backing.
Whew. Just when you thought that the clown car primary had settled down to a manageable level of madness.
Wouldn’t it just be cheaper for Tom Steyer to buy the DNC? It’s nearly out of money, it’s in bad shape, and has been ridden hard and put away wet. I’m sure he could get it for under a billion and then slip Warren, Biden and Sanders a couple of million to endorse him and shine his shoes.
Hey, it’s better than stealing money from disabled kids.
